Sometimes when I open my computer it says "Read disk error." Does anyone know what's going on?

Possible sign of hard drive failure or a bad sector on the disk where the OS is at. I'm taking it if you restart the computer it sometimes will boot all the way in? If that is the case just run the built in Windows hard disk error tool and see if it detects anything.

Thanks, but sometimes when i start my pc, when its not "Read disk error" it's windows not installed properly or corrupted and sometimes, its says kernal not installed properly and corrupted. I think there's more problems than meets the eye here. Any idea?
