Basically I got a router from my internet company to goalong with my DSL motorola modem Ive followed the setup CD word for word but the only lights appearing on the router are the power light and wireless THE INTERNET LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON! Ive tried to explain to my ISP that my modem connects to the internet using a USB lead blugged into the USB port on the back of the router into the back of my computer and the thernet port on the modem has nothing going in as I dont use that port for anything! its like the port has no funtion so no wonder my router wont pickup internet access as ive never used the ethernet port to connect to the internet anyway! PLEASE HELP ME! do I need to install something so my internet connects through the ethernet portn on my modem instead of the usb port?

the back of my modem looks like thismodem

DSL? yous hould explain this a bit better. Why do you have a Coax on the back if it's DSL? Are you connecting your computer through USB or Ethernet?

As mentioned, if the modem in the picture is what you have then you don't have DSL. You have cable internet.

I'm going to attempt to translate this into English...

You are using a Motorola cable modem that was plugged into your computer via USB. Now you'd like to use a router, but the router has no USB connection. When you connect the modem to your router via ethernet, the internet connectivity light on the router does not come on.

Now, if I've translated that correctly, try the following. You didn't mention if you unplugged the USB cable between the modem and the computer. It's likely that the modem will only work with one or the other at any given time, so make sure you have unplugged the USB cable before you plug in the ethernet cable. After you plug the ethernet cable from the modem into the router (making sure to plug it into the internet port that's off by itself, not one of the other four ports grouped together), unplug the power to your cable modem for 30 seconds and plug it back in. This will allow your router to pull an external IP address instead of your computer and is a required step by most cable ISPs in most areas.

If that doesn't work, feel free to post back with your results and more details. That being said, be sure to use complete sentences and punctuation since...

"omg when you write stuff like this it might make sense to you but its really hard for other people who are not you to read it since im not the one who wrote it its hard to me to understand even though you might get it i cant because it just goes on and doesnt pause or break where youd expect it to so please try to make it clear for us cuz if you do we can help you better"
