So you all probably remember Company of Heroes in all its glory, and may even still play it and the numerous mods associated with it till this day. I personally have been playing it a lot lately, specifically with the Blitzkreig mod running, and quite simply, the performance I am getting out of my machine is appalling. I've tried a number of things, but before I dive into it, here are my specs, listed below: Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.8Ghz (Stock) w/ Corsair H50 H20 Liquid Cooling PNY GTX 580 @ Stock (800Core/1600Shader/2004Memory) 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Series DDR3 1600 (9-9-9-24-2t) Biostar T5XE Mainboard Corsair TX 750W Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM (w/113GB free of 931GB total) Windows 7 X64 The appalling performance I speak of, is essentially never going above 35 fps, usually at the very beginning of the game, before dipping down into a chilly 13-20fps for the duration, until the very end when it seems to clear back up a little bit. I've knocked out all the usual suspects, my temps look good, sitting around 32C for my GPU and maxing at 19C on my CPU (my basement is cold), my drivers are updated to the latest ForceWare 310.90 WHQL, and I have no other issues in particular with any other games. The thing that gets me here is that my hardware is being totally underutilized. My CPU is between 30-50% utilization while in game during a 2v2 with 1 player and 3 expert AI, and my GPU is down near 30% utilization at all time with the same circumstances. With this info in mind, I've provided an image down below of my settings before starting the game. My Settings In Game Finally, just a few quick notes. I noticed that with my sound quality all the way down, I was able to play at a more reasonable framerate for a longer period of time before it dipped to its normal slideshow. Also, by zooming in really far, I generally get 60fps, but I mean zoomed in really far. Thanks for reading. Please respond with any info that might help.

its probably a driver issue. Alot of older games have issues with newer hardware, the best you can do is rollback to an older driver. Find out when the game was released and look for a driver around that time frame.

Yea man, thats not right.

I run COH on max everything @ 1920*1080 and get pretty good framerates.

While it's not apples for apples, my system is somewhat similar to yours. I use the same ram, have an SLI setup that is right around the performance of your 580, same resolution but with higher settings, etc...

I will tell you though that I am getting rather crappy results in Guild Wars 2 with the 310.90 drivers. In certain parts of the game I will get 40-60% GPU usage, and at other times it will hang out around 97-98% which I am used to to getting.

I havent tried any other games lately to troubleshoot with, but I am starting to think the newest GeForce drivers are causing a GPU load issue.

So I am thinking that the drivers is what is causing the issue. I am sure you should be running higher than 30% gpu usage even though its not a very demanding game.

Also, just an unrelated question... Do you run that RAM at 1T for stability issues? At 8GB that set should have no problems running 1T with the stock timings that you are using them at. Just curious.

Check what the settings are in your Nvidia control panel or w/e it is called now.
Those settings can over-ride in game settings.
