I'm kind of new to building computers, and would appreciate it if you could reccommend a processor, and where to spend more, or less, using newegg please

Definitely a good call, although you might also want to consider the 9600GT as it performs very very well, but can be had for much less than the 8800GTS (at least up here in Canada, I've seen 140 for a BFG)

The 8800 GT performs somewhat better and can be found (in Canada :)) for 130$ (XFX Zalman).

Id recommend the Intel E8400, its very stable and overclock-able. Ive got mine running at 4ghz but I could probably get it stable at 4.25ghz. At 4.25ghz the E8400 has about as much performance as a quad core for applications and still owns games because it is a dual core. Not to mention they are pretty cheap.

Edit: Forgot to put that it outperforms the Q6600
