Recent Gamespot Review That Motivated You To Purchase a PC Game?

While I always go on my own choice of purchasing games, I tend to however stumble across a great review to go and buy the game. I must say a recent review that made me go and pick up a game has to be Gertsman review on Gears of War for Windows. Essentially, I had my choice already made to buy Gears of War for the PC, but the Gertsman review really pushed for the decision. Feel free to comment buds...

Recently, there's none. Demigod is the lastest game I bought, which got 6.5 from gamespot.

I don't pay attention to their reveiws of overhyped AAA titles as they tend to be bias. I read them as one of many sources. But I did buy The Witcher cause of their review and I don't mind admiting it. Imay not have heard of it if not forthat review.

Gamespot's review on Painkiller sold me on purchasing the game. Glad I got it. Nvm its age, it was ahead of its time when released.

I usually check a few game review sites such as Gamespot, Gametrailers, G4xplay, IGN, ect Then again I haven't purchased any games in a while.

I remember buying FarCry2 and ignoring some of the negative reviewer comments on it, boy was I wrong in doing so.

I like gamespot's reviews and use them frequently in conjunction with other reviews. I tend to read about 4-5 professional reviews and then go through some player reviews to average it out. Though to be honest player reviews (especially on this site) are probably the worst source for game information. Far too biased and a lot of the times (especially with big named games) there are all sorts of unrelated bias and nitpicks that I don't care about.

Sometimes I disagree with the score gamespot gives, but the actual review itself is usually filled with lots of useful information thats hard to completely disregard.

Gamespot's review convinced me to purchase Mass Effect as well.

Maybe some of the pre-2005 reviews. Nowadays I consider them a bit of a joke.

None, i dont take reviews seriously, especailly from gamespot.

Seems like i dissagree with 90% of videogame reviews anyways, so meh.

Don't EVER talk about that! It was a big mistake that needs to be forgotten(along with all other PC reviews since pre-2005). I really don't listen to reviews from sites, I tend to listen more to the user reviews, since there are more of them that agree on a game(or disagree). I just come on here for the forums and non-review game info.

I don't want to jump onto the "let's all bash Gamespot 'cuz that's what the cool kids do" bandwagon, but ever since all the great editors of the site left, that is, Greg Kasavin, Jason Ocampo, Carrie Gouskos, Brad, Alex, Jeff, etc., I just don't really give much credence to Gamespot reviews. It's a real shame, too, since they have some talented writers, I just rarely agree with their opinions.

Back in the old days, I mostly used Gamespot and other review websites to verify that a game I wanted was worth getting. I think Greg's review of Ninja Gaiden Black made me buy the game. Alex Navarro's review of Forza 2 convinced me to try out the game (notice these are all console games). Lately, however, I've been mostly paying attention to user reviews and general opinions on forums as a basis for my buying decisions. I will say that I've liked the past few Eurogamer reviews that I've read.
