Pioneer 115D, its good for burning everything, especially dual layered DVDs for your consoles that require dual layed DVDs. ;P

Sony NEC Optiarc 7170 SATA -- retails for $27.

Here's a recent recommendation from Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/09/18/sbm_mid_cost_system/page7.html#test_setup

"The drive's speeds approach those of the fastest drives: DVD-R and +R writes of 18x; DVD+RW and -RW rewrites of 8x and 6x; DVD+R and -R Dual Layer disk writes of 8x; CD-R and -RW writes of 48x and 32x; and DVD-RAM writes of 12X."

Yeah, it will fit. I listed that drive because it really is one of the best AND it has an IDE interface. If your computer is older, which you claim it is, then you are more than likely using IDE right now.

Simply take the the two cables out of your current drive and place those cables in the exact same spots on your new drive and you're all done.

Pioneer will have most likey installed their most recent firmware so its just plug and play.

I've got over 600 burns with this Samsung. It's at the end of it's life though, and I'll replace it with a newer model Samsung within the week. Very happy with the speed, quality, and life of this product (just read the reviews, Samsung is a very good burner at a very good price.)
