Hey guys, I'm a first time hdtv buyer, and I need your infinite wisdom to help me .

My price range is up to 2000 australian dollars and I plan on using it to play blu-ray, Gaming, and also hooking my pc up to it through hdmi.

Also, what is best for my needs, LCD or Plasma?

Thx in advance

Plasma 1080P, I would recommend any of the Panasonic Viera line. Very good TV, pretty affordable, and will suit all of the need you listed.

i recommend my

42 inch Dynex LCD TV

it can do all the way to 1080p.

has a USB port somewhere on it. a couple of HDMI ports, regular standard cable ports.

has given me no problems.

I bought it (it was getting pretty rare) at a total of $630 dollars (tax included).

granted this is the Roundys of TV. but it still works.

If i had actual cash, i'd buy a Sony Bravia, but i really wanted an HD tv, and so far (it's almost one year old now), has served me well.

Thanks for the replys guys, I do however have 2 more questions regarding plasma's..

1. Power usage, I heard they use a hell load more then LCD's, is it really as bad as everyone says?

2. Will it look ok with a PC hooked up? I'm just wondering because I know computr monitors are LCD, so yea..

Thanks

If you are spending that amount of money, I'd wait for the "3D" models to roll around.

my parents have a 52" viera plasma ( 1080p ) and i was surprised to see that when my laptop was connected to it it could not display full 1920x1080 via the vga input. i had to scale the resolution down..

TC might want to check was the max supported resolution is for the PC input.

i seen alot of tvs have trouble doing 1080 p on their pcs threw vga. while reading buyer reviews on hdtvs. seems like a common problem.

I recommend Panasonic plasma TVs, the V10 is the next best thing to the Pioneer Kuro and Elite Kuro tvs (best TV on the market), and it is still at a very good price. Around $2000 Canadian (before bargaining), so I'm sure you could get one for around your budget.
