i have never bought a gaming keyboard before, but i'm considering getting one now.

i'd like one that has a layout similar to the Ideazon Merc Stealth, with the control buttons on the left side of the keyboard.

does anybody know of any similar keyboards that have gotten better reviews than that one?

Yup, I had a logitech g15, I never used the lcd or the gkeys, it was too big too. The dell multimedia keyboard which is 20-30 dollars is just as good, types as good, just no backlighting and is way smaller. Has 2 usb ports too :D

none of the keyboards mentioned are like the one that i described.

they all look just like the keyboard i already have, so i have no reason to get them.

I just use a cheap Logitech media keyboard and I don't see how an expensive gaming keyboard would give me better performance lol.

that's because all a gaming keyboard is is a normal keyboard with some extra keys and back lighting, they don't offer much over a standard usb keyboard.
