Hmm, not too old? Dreamfall is certainly one of the best. Sam & Max season 1 is supposedly very funny. Some of the latest Myst games are decent too, if you're into insane puzzles. I think Broken Sword 3 is a great game.

Just stay away from Syberia 2 and Broken Sword 4, those blow. Just thought I should mention these two since it looks like people are actually recommending them...

I agree with the rest of the recommendations though.
