I just picked up a GTX 460 and i'm looking to play some games that will actually use that kind of power. I usually play games like Diablo and Starcraft on my computer, but i'm open to anything really. Recommendations?

I played the demo for Torchlight and really enjoyed it, but I heard it has no multiplayer (which is part of the fun in that kind of game) so yay nor nay on that one? I will look into Gothic 3, noticed it was on sale on Steam.

Is Crysis really worth it? ($30 for a game made in 2007 seems ridiculous)

The most recent RPG's i've played were FF13 on the PS3 (didnt like it), ES4:Oblivion (hated it), and WoW (I refuse to pay a monthly fee to play a game). I do love RPG's, but the open ended ones (Oblivion) just kinda bore me.

Borderlands was awesome, if that counts as an RPG. I tried playing Mass Effect 2 and didnt like it. They cut it down too much from the original IMO.

No, i'm just looking for some of the best games available on the pc. It would be nice to get some that look great though too. I still play the original Starcraft and its far from looking the best. I'm downloading the demo for World in Conflict, it looks interesting and I think i've looked at it in the store before.

Try The Witcher or Neverwinter Nights 2 (with the MotB expansion) and for an older game that still doesn't look too shabby, you can't go wrong with Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. They are all good to very good CRPGs.

The witcher looks pretty good. I also looked up Neverwinter Nights 2 and its made by the same people who made Baldur's gate (loved that game btw).

Check out Divine Divinity. It takes the Diablo formula and applies it to a real RPG in a fully interactive world. A truly outstanding game.

Neverwinter Nights 2 isn't by the same guys that did Baldur's Gate. That was BioWare (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, KotOR, Jade Empire and the first Neverwinter Nights). Obsidian made Neverwinter Nights 2 (KotOR 2, Alpha Protocol and Fallout New Vegas, they're made up of former Black Isle members responsible for Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale series, original Fallout games and they worked on some Baldur's Gate game for Xbox and PS2, but not the actual Baldur's Gate that BioWare started on PC). Still though, I'm kind of curious about Neverwinter Nights 2 myself. It looks cool, but I also hear it's pretty buggy.

Torchlight ($20, SS ~$5)

World of Goo ($20, SS ~$5)

Audiosurf ($10, SS ~$2.50)

League of Legends (free)

So I bought Crysis but so far I think the game is overrated or i'm really missing something. I left the graphics on default which had everything set to High and I added x4 AA. Honestly, this game barely looks as good as Halo 2... i'm not impressed especially considering the high requirements. The controls are busted, at least on my game. It says hit key 4 to change suit modes but I had to press it like 10 times just to switch, not good for a FPS.

BTW wtf is Mouse 3?

I'm just saying, it requires a graphics card that costs as much as a PS3, yet most games on the PS3 look as good or better than this. I'm not trying to start an arguement, I just figured it would look better.

I'd suggest Mass Effect (1&2), Starcraft 2 (not a power hog but a great game), and Dawn of War 2.

cost a much as a ps3? try a third of the price a $100 gpu can run crysis at the level of graphics below and you only set the graphics to high not even veryhigh i can't see how you can complain about them without at least maxing it out first :? and then there are custom configs that tweak dozens of settings for the best performance to quality so you can get better performance and visuals then you would stock settings i would highly reccomend you try one personally i prefer this one the best ccc 2.21

http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=23117

given your gpu you should install lvl6 of that config and make sure to install the custom tod files.

I changed the settings to Ultra High and kept AA x 4. Still didnt notice much of an improvement. Those screenshots look pretty good though, I think i'll install that CCC pack. Now if only I could get use to using a mouse and keyboard for FPS, maybe I wouldnt die so much lol.

Dragon Age Orgins

Starcraft 2

Try Oblivion again with Mods:

www.tesnexus.com/

I hated the game too until I installed mods. Love the game with mods. It took over a hundred mods to get the game just right for my taste. There are a ton of sites that list descriptions for the best mods so I will simply say to use Google to research the ones you want.

Personally, I changed the combat to martial arts type moves and added blood and beheadings. I like my games to be violent.

Are there any MMORPG's that dont have a monthly fee? I'm not hardcore into those kinds of games so it would be nice to play one every now and then.

Like I said not bashing Crysis, I was just expecting more I guess. The character models and water effects are amazing, its the rest of the world that doesnt look as good. That CCC mod definitely improves it though.

Theres plenty of them just don't expect steller graphics and gameplay is prettym uch cookie cutter for all of themthe one i enjoyed a bit was cabal online. Wierd you say the rest of the world always thought the foliage was the best looking part in crysis but even crysis has its imperfections being as large scale as the levels are they can only pack in so much detial into everything so not every little thing will look amazing.

guild wars is arguably not an mmo, but its the best fit for an mmo type game without monthly fees or micro-transactions.

Try Divinity 2.

I still play this game and it is GPU demanding.
