Someone recommended me an Intel Core 2 Duo set up from cyberpowerpc.com, just wanted to hear what you guys thought. I love PC, have always loved PC more than console, so I am willing to dish out some money, but nothing ridiculous because I do have other things to pay for. Say I was to have about $1500 or so to spend on a new PC, do you think that would contend with modern PC'ing without having to upgrade anytime soon and I'd feel comfortable? Any info/opinons would be greatly appreciated. This is the PC I currently have by the way.

I rather get a pre-built one because I don't trust myself.

Well, you can build a decent system there for that price. I assume you want a full system including monitor, keyboard, mouse, Windows, etc.

This is what I put together for $1501:

Intel Core 2 Duo Custom Build Configurator
*BASE_PRICE: [+665]
CAS: ($20 off Mail-in Rebate) Xion III Gaming Mid-Tower 420W Case with Side Window [-14] (BLACK COLOR)

CD: (Special Price) 18X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER (BLACK COLOR)
FREEBIE_CU1: FREE! CyberPower Multi-Purpose Carrying Briefcase ($19.99 Value)
FREEBIE_CU2: FREE! Cyberpower Unleash The Power T-Shirt ($19 Value)

NETWORK: ONBOARD 10/100 NETWORK CARD
OS: Microsoft® Windows VistaTM Home Premium [+104] (32-bit Edition)

SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
SPEAKERS: NONE [-5]
USB: Built-in USB 2.0 Ports
VIDEO: NEW!!! NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB 16X PCI Express [+264] (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)

It isan extra $69 to up the CPU to an E6600... probably not worth it.

Hmm, I just don't know if I could build a comp. Is it easy? I've never even installed a video card before. And there's so many things you can choose to build one, I wouldn't know if I was getting the best bang for my buck. If it'd be the best thing, I'm all for it, just wondering if there's any other way.

That was a custom build from Cyberpower.

Edit: You could get even better parts for that price if you build it yourself though.

If you're going to go prebuild, go for a boutique system builder like Vigor Gaming, Biohazard computers and Falcon NW (if you have the money).

Yeah, I think I might. I just don't want to screw it up, and want to make sure I'm getting the best parts for my buck. It looks like building my own would be the cheapest and most efficient way.

good choice its really not hard at all the hardest part it probally picking out the parts which we can do for you and the only way you can really mess something up or break it is if you litteral drop it or smash it and there's guides like these that tell you what to do step by step

It is not hard, but I have known people who tried and ended up damaging something... then it costs even more than getting pre-built. Because of that, I don't push anyone who isn't sure they can do it.But if you read some guides on building a system and take some basic precautions, most people can do it with no problems. Also, if you have problems, you can come here (assuming you have access to another computer) for help.
