I would like to run games at 1920 x 1080 at high settings. My monitor is 23" and supports those settings, but my graphics card is terrible. And I'm forced to play games at lowest resolution with lowest settings just to play games from 4 years ago. I'm really starting to get annoyed, since I can't play any current games at all.

I can manage to play WoW at 1920 x 1080 but with max low graphics and I get a steady 25fps. But with other games, I have to play them at like 600x800 with max lowest just to get 15fps. I would like to run WoW at max and get like 30+fps. I would also like to run Diablo at max with 1920 x 1080 or other games like DayZ, or be able to buy current games and play them at atleast medium or high with that resolution.

Pretty sure it's my graphics card that's causing the problem, but I don't know much about computers and how to build them. But here is my spec's.

Windows Vista 64bit

AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

5886MB RAM

DirectX 11

ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I would like to spend under $200 if that is possible for what I am asking for. But can anyone recommend me what kind of card I should get? (If the video card is even the problem)

Well the gpu is the worse part, however your cpu isnt up to snuff for ARMA 2 to have smooth gameplay, but for most other games its ok. You should find out what motherboard you have and see if you can update the bios and you could throw in a Athlon 2 X4, and we need to know what your current psu is so we can know if you need a better one.

I think your CPU is gonna hold u back. My son plays a lot of Arma/DayZ and he has a Athlon x2 4450e , combined with a gtx460, and those games run, but not on max settings.i told him I'm just going to get him a FM1 mobo $70 , and a Athlonx4, which is only $70 also. Then maybe another gtx460 for SLI. But yeah,I think u need to check and see if the mobo is able to be upgraded. If so, problem solved. You'll probably still need to upgrade your gc .

I would recommend a GTX 670 because it has very good value for your money. It's a very powerful card, and it runs cool and quiet, and also doesn't use much electricity. If you want to spend more money, go ahead and get either a 680 or 690. But the 690 costs almost £1,000! I would steer well clear from it until the price go down.

I'm a GTX 670 owner and I can play Crysis at 1360x768 with everything maxed out and it runs at 35fps to 60fps depending on situations. Very happy with it. I know my resolution is low as I'm using my Sony Bravia HDTV. I think I'm getting a good 27" monitor at Christmas, and it will be all good.

*Edit* Oh, and you should upgrade your CPU. It could be a bottleneck.

AMD 7950. You also got to take a look at what power supply your computer currently has. Even when you upgrade your Graphics card, your CPU will limit how much your Graphics card can do. You should replace the CPU and motherboard soon otherwise the annoying low settings and low fps will continue. Save up money, pass on going to the movie theaters, eat out less, drink less alcohol, whatever, and save up $700 for a new CPU, motherbaord, and GPU

Ho ho ho. tell him to wait for the 660/660 tis if you want to talk about value for money. A 670 is better only when compared to the premium on a 680.

I will also highly suggest a newly released Athlonx4 (some benches show they are faster than a bulldozer 4100 ) and an FM1 board for about $130 both and then spend and extra $130-140 and get an AMD 6870.

This one is $219.99 but it is worth it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129230 You might also want to upgrade that CPU to something more modern. If your motherboard can support AM3 CPUs via bios update, then you can get a Quad Core Phenom.

You say $130 for both the CPU and FM1 mobo? I have two 6870s myself, but I've never seen a 6870 under 159. Unless its with rebates. I figured I'd get him another gtx460, especially since he already had one. He has the 256bit gtx460, not the 192bit, and it does really well. I figured the athlonx4 and the Fm1 was a steal for that price, at least for him.

The HD 7850 is a great card that comes in around your budget. It can overclock like crazy and doesn't lose as much performance as some cards when using high levels of anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. With a good overclock its performance gets very close to the level of a GTX 580, last year's flagship card. For a higher range budget build I don't think there is a better card out there right now than the HD 7850.

At more of the higher end I would go for a GTX 670. Performance close to a GTX 680 for $100 less....what else can you ask for? It should also be mentioned, though, that the HD 7950 is a very underrated and powerful card in its own right. It overclocks extremely well and with the newest drivers it has exceptional performance...not too much behind a GTX 670.

I missed the part about the 460. Then imo he dont need a gpu upgrade just a CPU/Mobo upgrade and he will see a decent performance boost . Athlonx4 641 i s about $80-90 and a microAtx Fm1 mobo with pci-x x16 about 50-60 so for $140-150 he can have a decent Cpu

True. I thought about upgrading myself, to either a 7870, or even a 670, then giving him my 6870s, but he loves his gtx460. He is now a Nvidia faithful.

Well, AMD has plans to update it's 7950 with "Ghz Edition".
