I'd get the Dir 655. Sure it might not have dual band or 5ghz but then again those are totally useless....
dual band is pointless when G acutally provides a higher speed than N, tested it by flipping to G only and then N. Only notice a slight difference in signal strength but youd have to be in the middle of no where to notice it. 5Ghz sucks because it can't travel through walls very well at all, becareful not to close a door or windows it might hurt your connection lol.
The Dir 655 has the best wireless connection and speed currently on the market. Never had any issues with mine, have the latest firmware running on it.

Other than being wrong... lol Dual band is very useful if you are doing network transfers(higher frequency more bandwith), and wirelss G doesn't even support the thoroughoutput of my 50/10 connection. Also the dir-655 specs just aren't that powerful, it's a pretty old router. Mine was kinda slow inthe GUI got it recently.I only got a max throoughput speed of around 100 mb/s on a dir-655 according to task manager, as Intel wifi cards can't do 300 mb/s over wifi at 2.4ghz even on 40mhz of spectrum. 300 mb/s np with 5ghz on the wndr3700. There just isn't much point in getting a dir-655 today.
I've tested a dual band router and a normal one. For some reason my Dir 655 beat the dual band router in speed and range. I didn't compare transfer speeds over the network but I got Much faster d/upload speeds on speeds test with G only mode compared to N only. Also like to note you're part of the rare few with a 50/10 connection. Also have to be pretty close to your router to make full use of that speed since 5Ghz doesn't travel well at all through the house which kills the idea of going wireless for max speed.
Yes you are true 5ghz doesn't get that much range, but even a low 5ghz signal can be faster htan a mediumish 2.4ghz signal. I had the dir-655 for a bit I was pretty dissapointed with the wiireless speeds for lan transfers. Though then again I have heard the new models are worse than the old ones, I tested one like 3 weeks ago. Also viewing specs http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=37233.0;wap2 The wndr3700 has much better. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR3700 680mhz cpu in the wndr3700 with 64 megs of ram. Also for the place I am at, 5ghz works pretty well :P
