Hi, i am looking for a game in a vain of X-com,Jagged Alliance, Kotor, Baldurs gate, Icewindale & even Total War series. I like the concept of you units/squadmate/companion get experiences overtime. Hopefully you will be fond of them, don't you just hate losing your veteran soldier in x-com or see your rookee merc turns into a deadly killing machine. I missed these game elements. Don't have to be strategy, it could also a tactical shooter like the first Ghost recon, or rainbow six.

Games that i've played so far but not as satifying as the games mentioned above:

Silent Storm & Fallout Tactics, Company of Heroes

Games i know about but not still not sure if it have the game element im looking like

Mass effect, Witcher, Fallout 3

Thanx in advance on your advise.

/cheers

Fallout 3 is a solid game. However, there is no online play. If you like shooters, and gaining attributes and experience, then you will enjoy Fallout 3. Good Luck!

Mass Effect's party/leveling system is very similar to the one you saw in KOTOR--so if you're looking for that you know what to expect. There really isn't much of a companion/party aspect to The Witcher and Fallout 3. You could try Neverwinter Nights 2 and expansions... Similar gameplay to Baldur's Gate, though now in 3D.

Hey, these two are not so much RPGs- but more like X-Com in that you equip your teams and can specialize your characters' weapons. Both are from the same makers. And both have the same play style. They are tactiacal games with infantry and vechicles that are real time, but can be paused to issue orders and then play out the processes.

Soldiers of Anarchy

And

The Fall: Last Days of Gaia

And both have a heavy feel that your dont want to lose your Veterans.

The Fall is hard to find in english, but there are fan made translation mods.

Good luck!

You could try the UFO Aftermath series. Similar to XCOM in theme- not nearly as deep but has many RPG elements.

Actually looks very Fallout-ish. How have I never heard of this game :P

I can't seem to find it anywhere though...even on Amazon. How can I get my hands on this game?

Haha! =D

Soldiers of Anarchy i know can be found somewhere- i bought it at a PX with a nice mail in "Patton" DvD return =B I love that guy.

The Fall is REALLY hard to find...

I waited about 2 years after it came out for it to be released to the states. Silver Styles Entertainment, I guess, felt otherwise. =( I even wrote them a letter about it... that failed to gain a responce. Oh well! I played a German copy of the game. (since they are german, should be easy to find) But I know fans have made English Translation mods for the game- and a few versions of the game are floating around the net to be found. But i dont know if they ever released a full english version of the game. It has some dedicated fans.

Both games have very similar settings. Very Fallout like. Almost like fallout tactics, now that i think about it. I think the story goes that a man mad virus destroyed most of humanity and in SoA your part of a group of russians that hid in a bunker for 10 years... suckers. And The Fall, i think your just a wastelander. But a very kick ass one... The fall also has dialog options for a more RPG feel

Its all set in by missions- the main story so SoA has a few choices that changes the last 3 missions around- so it has at least a good replay value of once. Or more if you desire to attempt other tactics.

Thinking of foriegn game designers reminds me of anther two really cool Diablo 2 like RPGs:

"Divine Divinity" and its next of kin "Beyond Divinity" (Both can be found in U.S. versions)

But thats going off topic... ;)
