star wars: knights of the old republic (KotOR).  jedi RPG.  pretty good game even if you're not a fan of star wars.

It depends on what you like. Know that most if not all Bioware titles have RPG elements in them. http://www.bioware.com

also neverwinter nights (NWN).  D&D fantasy RPG.  it's okay.  the single player campaign isn't the greatest, but it's alright.  there are a lot of mods available (of varying quality).  there's also NWN2.  haven't played it but heard mostly mediocre to negative things about it on the forums.  if you really like NWN, it might be something to take a look at.

Jcword, the Baulder's Gate games (BG II in particular, along with its expansion, Throne of Baal) are easily some of the best and most highly regarded RPGs to hit the market. I've had BG II in the top 3 of my all-time games list for ages!

It's an uber-rich, uber-detailed D&D adventure, highly authentic-feeling in terms of its use of the ruleset. It's also the sort of RPG where you rarely feel constrained by the game engine--feel free to plan and execute each encounter exactly how you like, as opposed to later Bioware RPGs (like the very good KOTOR), where events and their outcomes tend to feel a bit scripted. BG is hard core fun, baby. There's so much to do and see, it's unbelieveable.

Jade Empire ( X Box or P.C ) :)indzman

I am really liking this game. It is beautiful, doesn't have any bugs, super fast loading screens, nice story, and fun combat. I was quite impressed.

My TOP 5 Bioware games : 1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ( Star Wars RPG, IMHO best RPG ever ) 2. Jade Empire ( action RPG in an Asian setting with martial arts ) 3. Neverwinter Nights ( + expansion packs: Shadows of the Undrentide; Hordes of the Underdark ) 4. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn ( + expansion pack: Throne of Bhall ) ( D&D RPG ) 5. Baldur's Gate ( + Tales of the sword coast ) ( D&D RPG ) Other Bioware games ( Not RPGs ): MDK 2 and Shattered Steel. MDK 2 isn't a bad game, but it's not very good either. I've never played Shattered Steel.
There's also NWN2. Haven't played it but heard mostly mediocre to negative things about it on the forums.zebruter
NWN2 isn't by Bioware, it's by Obsidian and like every Obsidian game it has a boring unfinished linear story with a terrible ending, boring locations, uninteresting characters, a million bugs and copies everything from Bioware. Obsidian is NOT Black Isle and never will be as good as Black Isle was. If Bioware made NWN2 it would have been one of the greatest RPGs ever. IMHO Bioware is the best RPG developer ever. I can't wait for Dragon Age and I really hope Mass Effect will come out for PC ( It probably will and I think it will be the best RPG ever ). I also hope Bioware will make KOTOR 3, but there's very little chance of that happening.

I can't stand Jade Empire. It's just too linear, cut scenes every 3 minutes which is way too much, extremely poor combat system. And because it has that Japanese style over it, it just drops my interest in the game by quite a lot. But some people like it however, but it's definitely not up to snuff like other Bioware titles that's for sure.

If you haven't played Baldur's Gate II, do it. NOW! If you look around you can get the BGII collection that has Shadows of Amn and its expansion; Throne of Bhaal. Same deal with Baldur's Gate. There used to be a Baldur's Ultimate Collection that had BG1&2 plus expansions for both, but that collection (last I checked) is no longer sold in the US. (though, I have heard that it can still be found in the UK)

As for straight-up BioWare games, there really aren't that many. Mostly due to BioWare constantly creating new engines and focusing mainly on RPGs. (RPGs take a long time to make) BioWare has been around for a long time, but it really hasn't been until Neverwinter Nights that BW began to really grow in size and scope.

Favorite BioWare games:

BGII (D&D game. Regarded by many as one of, if not THE best RPG of all time)

KotOR (Star Wars RPG. Play as a Jedi and choose light side or dark side. Incredibly fun with great dialog. (there is a mod that gives you Jedi powers right at the beginning of the game. Using this will cause the game to be very unbalanced and way too easy, but can be wickedly fun))

Neverwinter Nights (D&D RPG. Large multiplayer community and a toolset that allows for users to create their own adventures. Also has a Dungeon Master client to help facilitate multiplayer games. (tied with KotOR when you consider all the great SP modules out there. this game has a VERY long shelf life))

BG1 (D&D RPG. A great game. Much more "low level" oriented.)

Jade Empire (Asian themed world. Controls are simple and combat is uninspired, but has a solid storyline, good dialog, though it is a bit short)

Regarding NWN2, it's actually a pretty good game. It would have been nice if BW would have made it instead of Obsidian, but it is still a very solid game. The upcoming expansion will add a lot more content. NWN2 can be a bit of a system hog though. Especially with all of the shading options turned up to high.
