Built a pc a couple of years ago (know enough to be dangerous). PC now turns on but shuts down after a couple of minutes. Geek Squad guys thinks it is the motherboard. We only use this pc for gaming. If you were going to replace your motherboard & processor, what would you buy?

Thank you in advance.

yeh same, the comp that I'm on right now does the same thing, but mine goes to some blue screen with random writing...and then I'll restart it, press f8 and select "Use Last Known Good Configuration"...that sometimes works for me(hardly ever!), but I'm making a rig in a few days anyways, but still anyone know how to permanently fix this problem?

I I just built a new gaming rig using a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard and e8500 CPU. I got a combo deal from Newegg for $308. This is a great combo as they can be easily overclocked. I recommend a CPU fan if you do, however, as the stock intel fan is crap. I got a Zalman and it is SWEET!

Why would you go to geek squad, if they think it is the motherboard, then it is probably something they did to the motherboard. And the original problem is something else

That is some good advice, but you could also pick up a quad cheap now.
