the 6000+ performs about the same as a E6600 and you dont have to over clock them for it to be good. Pretty much good for people who dont want to get into OCingAfter the price cuts, an E6750 will be only $183, which is roughly the same price of a 6000+ ($178). The E6750 outperforms the 6000+ while consuming half the power (less heat, lower noise).
Unless you're already on a good AM2 platform, sure, go for the 6000+. If you're buying a new CPU/Mobo, you'd be nuts to pass up a Core 2.

Maybe he couldn't wait those extra days?
Fair enough. :/
It's his money, not mine. I'm just advising him how to get the best bang for the buck.
Thankyou very much for all of the replies. I very well know how (arguably) much 'better' - in terms of heat, power consumption, speed etc - Core 2 Duos are. I can't beleive that I haven't heard of this price cut. This changes things :P My question is now: Which Core 2 Duo model gives the best bang for buck? After the price cuts I mean.
