How do you record game footage and audio? I know that you use fraps(or taksi, zdsoft etc.), but fraps can only record either the games sound, or your mics sound. I want to record both. I tried using mic(which I need to for commentary) and just turning up my voume really loud, but it was uneffective and just hurt my ears. Any suggestions?

I know how to enable stereo mix, but how do I make sure my mic is unmunted on it? (Using Vista)

Use Audacity to record audio separately (if you're looking to add commentary to your game footage).

Thanks, it works if I run my game windowed, but I had to switch video editors because VirtualDub doesnt allow you to sync audio and video together.

you can bring your footage into an editing system after filming and do the commentary there.

Film your video and add commentary afterwards.   I'm sure there are apps that could record both, but the end result would be horrible.   The general gameplay video w/commentary almost always involves toning down the in-game effects while you talk so people watching can understand you better.   There's also the fact that you'll probably want to change the certain phrases you use..... Which would be 100X more complicated to change if you recorded both in-game and mic together.
