Hi, just wondering, because the requirments to record games on PC are ridiculous, I can max most games, but fraps ect just kills them off and Ive always been interested in making videos.

There is hardware that records console games effectivly, I was wondering if its possible to include PC games in this equation, and record from the Monitor ect, reasons being I think this would be cheaper than spending a ridiculous ammount on a brand new PC just to record games that I can already max out, onmtop of that recording console games would be a great bonus.

IS this possible? without breaking the bank? :P

Why are you using fraps if you want great performance. Fraps has always been the ultimate best video quality but very hardware heavy. I propose you use either dxtory, wegame, or growler guncam. Wegame is completely free but video qaulity is mediocre. Growler guncam works very well and has a full 14 day full trial but its an old program and if you on vista or windows 7, you will have to move a file out the program for it to work (program built on XP and no longer updated). It can record anything on your screen but the highest the avi video can be is 1650x1080 resolution. Dxtory is the full package. Its just great. The deepest customization for videos, ability to go high quality to low quality, all the features of fraps, and the free version allows for unlimited record time (has a dxtory watermark like fraps for free version).

You can record using a capture card like on a console, but the cost to get a good one you could get a quad core CPU like mine where i get basically no FRAPS fps drop what so ever.

Check to make sure Fraps isn't throttling the framerate to 30 or something, that will make the game look like it's performing badly. You optimally want 60 FPS.

for recording videos for youtube or something you want FRAPS to limit it to 30fps since that takes a much smaller hit on performance and file size, Youtube and most other video sharing sites will knock down the framerate to 24-30fps anyways even if you upload a 60fps video.
