I've just purchased Red Alert 3 but to my dismay the drive seems to fail to read the CD. It loads a little and then nothing happens. It just won't let me install the game. I've gone into my computer and tried to explore the drive etc but to no avail.

The drive will read all my other games but not Red Alert 3. I'm really confused and it's driving me nuts at the moment because I can't play the damn thing.

 Can anyone help?

You might need to get yourself another copy. Try trading your current copy with a new one from the store you bought it.

Well, I tried it on my brothers computer and it worked fine. It really is a strange problem and I can't figure out what it is which is doing my head in.

Can anyone suggest anything? I'm beginning to think something might be wrong with the drive. It's an HP dvd840. Would it help if I downloaded new firmware/drivers for it? Anyone got similar problems?

When I go to run D:/ it asks me to insert a disk into the drive :?

Why even ask, just update the fireware if one exists. If that doesn't help, either swap your DVD-ROM for your brother's or buy a new one...

I cant install it either! How annoying... I've just waisted £40 on this game.

The following is the error message I get on install:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/arc200uk/wontinstall.jpg

It says that there is an error reading from the file Mapsmultiplayer.big. and its asking me to verify that it exists and that the system can access it...

Does anybody have any as to what's going on here? My PC specs are as follows:

Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
AMD Athlon 3500+ 2.7Ghz
2GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon 3600 HD

I am having the exact same problem. I can't figure it out. There is no firmware upgrade for my drive, my dad's PC will recognize it, and i already exchanged the disc once. Does anyone have any ideas? It makes me sad that I didn't wait until today for it to come on Steam.

its something with vista and ea. has to be. I have a kick ass setup but I get this freakin stop loading crap ONLY with ea games. happened with three copies of TS and now red alert 3. I guess ea can loose my business. I am done trying. I will play many of the other trouble free games I have installed.

I'm having a similar problem I get the error message: "Error reading from file E:\Data\Movies\A03TH14.vp6. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." It also takes HOURS to load. I've never had so many problems with a game. Is there anyway to bypass installing this movie file; any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you install the RA3 patches, and if that does help, check out the official forums for real solutions...

Anybody got a solution for this installation thing yet- ive had the game 2 days now and every time i install it hangs at 'copying files'.. - i think it might be related to the rest of the problems on the thread (checked files that did install.. it hang with the same files as metion by the others) - other than the 32bit Vista, i got a pretty intense rig that really shouldnt have any problem with anything on the market-

I am having problems installing game (this is my 2nd store bought copy of game), tried on 2 different computers and 2 different OS, one Vista and other one is XP Pro. Here is the error message I get: "Error reading from file E:\Data\Movies\A03TH14.vp6. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." Even if I say "ignore" I get another similiar error message on next movie file. I am not sure what to do. EA was no help they just sent me a new copy which again didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks to all...

I had the same problem as you guys on vista but i solved it by copying all the movie files which needed verifying (in my case 2) off the game and put them in a folder i made in my documents. i then ran the installation program again and didnt have any problems. I dont know if this will work for you but it certainly worked for me. So good luck and i hope it works for you.

I'm having the same problem as the OP. I installed it a year ago, played a few skirmish modes and then it crashed. Suddenly it wouldn't load up so I uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall it and then the exact same thing as the OP happened and I haven't played it since! Anyone have any ideas what's up? Windows Firewall is off like one guy has suggested but it makes no difference, same thing happens.

I used to get similar messages with older games when I first installed Win 7. After 2-3 days, Windows Update installed some updates that automatically fixed the problem.

I don't have RA3 now. But, I had it running on 32-bit Vista Home Basic SP2 for a while. Is Vista updated to the most recent version?
