Red Faction Guerilla, patches failed to resolve problems...

I have finished RFG a few months back. I wanted to go back to it today but for some reason, it won't function anymore.

I have downloaded and installed both patches, hoping that it would resolve the issue.

Did not install raptr software though (I don't need another STEAM/Games For Windows software).

Same exact problem; patches failed to resolve.

Since I don't read gibberish, I have included the error report I get below. I hope someone could tell me what it means and hopefully, resolve this issue

My OS is Vista Ulitmate with SP2, 32-bit.

The problem is that the RFG_Launcher always stops working. It won't start the program. Installing boh patches has failed to solve the launcher problem.

I just installed it yesterday and had GFWL automatically update it when starting a new game. No problems yet.

I'm assuming you installed the patches manually?

Yes. But here's the thing: I finished playing the game, even the DLC Sam-Marauder missions that comes with it, even tried the different backpacksin multiplayer,with no patches whatsoever. Then a couple of months of not playing it, I decide to play it again and voila! "RFG_Launcher has stopper working"

I think it may be some Vista updates...could it?

That is strange.

You could maybe try copying rfg_launcher straight from the disc (E:/disc name/program files/Volition Inc/Red Faction Guerilla) into the directory the game is installed. Make sure to back-up the original if you do try that, in the likelyhood that it wouldn't work.

I never had any problems with RFG, it looks like some other people have had similar problems though, did you try this?

Wow, that actually did something. However, since I have only borrowed my cousin's copy of RFG, I could not re-enter the serial numberbecause I have returned the game to him last year.

I have been in contact with THQ support and they seem helpful. But only to an extent. They have suggested that I install the latest versions of Games For Windows LIVE and Steam. I am updating GFWL, since I did not acquire RFG thru Steam.

For some stupid reason, my GFWL is in Chinese. I'm like, "What da f*zz?" And I can't seem to change it to English. GFWL seems crappier than Steam, which I used to acquire The Orange Box.

Yeah I think most will agree GFWL is crap. I have no idea why yours is in Chinese.
