Did you guys have to do anything else before being able to download?? I pre-oredered the deluxe edition a while back as well but at the moment I cant do anything. I hope it's not because I'm in Australia.

It should come up in your steam download section as Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad beta. Try restarting steam :)

No worries. Now you don't have to feel goofy knowing you paid extra money to play a beta a mere 2-3 weeks before the game is in everyone else's hands.

sat in a dark corner with a Panzer IV and to my surprise...one man can control a 4man tank all alone, AI fills in the spots that players dont. Racked about 40 ish kills and never moved lol. Plus, tank crews dont have to run to vehicles and pray they dont get stolen...you spawn IN them!

Oh runs on the ATI 5750 at 1680x1050 at medium GFX (High textures for world) and low AA with a solid 30FPS

EDIT: Just got a kill with a PPSH at 55m. *hugs PPSH*

EDIT2: Just got a kill at 75m with a PPSH, and then kiled 5 other guys right after at ranges from 3-20m

SMG get me around 10-20 kills per round while Bolt action rifles get me 1-3. I think the range needs to be reduced on those things.

With that map I usually flanked the enemy and got them from behind, SMG got me a fair few kills. I may try a few different tactics so I get used to the rifle.

Yep, you can preorder on steam and beta started other day! Good game so far :]

Played about an hour so far. Took around 10 minutes of crashes (Currently the Server Browser is bugged and crashes randomly, should be fixed soon) before I got into a 64 player game of Territory on Apartments. Long story short, the game is a @#$%^ blast! I cannot believe how satisfying it was when I grabbed a mounted machine gun in a window and watched as 4 enemies ran through a door way, I held down the trigger and was amazed at the body parts flying everywhere! It feels like you are really in a war, very immersive and addicting.

For someone who sucks at this game (me), killing is very rewarding lol.

- Fixed the server browser being slow/laggy
- Fixed some crashing issues with the server browser
- Fixed certain maps crashing in countdown game mode when 64 players would respawn at the same time
- Fixed some icons getting stuck on the screen (FT1, FT2, etc)
- Fixed choosing (defaults) in the key config menu removing keys
- Fixed some debugging tools so us devs can figure out what is causing crashes easier

Just had my first midgame crash :/

Had a really good game with the Mosin-Nagant and killed 10 people in one life on apartments. This game IS my FPS of the year.

So I shot this guy while he was running and this is the reusult of the kill

A video of me getting some kills in a match, most are with the sniper (which is beastly on this map). Make sure you watch it high rez as RO is a very long range game, so its hard to see.

I am curious, what graphics settings is everyone running at? I'm trying to get a feel for what I can crank the game to, while still having great performance, I'd rather be able to be worthwhile to my team rather than have a pretty game.

Why is there SO MUCH HYPE about this game? I've looked at gameplay videos and it looks normal, a bit dull and graphics are old....FelipeInside

Because this isn't your typical shooting game, and because it had an almost cult following. I do feel I should say that graphics hardly make a game, the original RO had some pretty awful graphics, but that game was wildly fun. If graphics are your thing, that sucks, but the gameplay is solid, or at least it was in the original game, Steam is downloading awfuly slow, so I have to wait until tomorrow to play ;-;

So much fun eh? Just wish the tanks wouldn't hide from me and make me waste ammo on those squishy fleshy tanks that run around.
