So there is alot of hype over Battlefeild 3 and MW3 but I would, at this moment, like to draw your attention to a game, a game being developed for PC, a game made by Tripwire (the guys behind Killing floor and The ball.) I would just like to let everyone know about this game, as me and many others are really looking forward to it. Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is the sequel to Tripwire Interactive's Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. It is a realism-based multiplayer WWII shooter on the PC, running on Epic's Unreal Engine 3. Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad will focus on the Battle of Stalingrad and the surrounding operations, both German and Russian, from July 1942 to February 1943. Still not convinced, check out all the gameplay features in this thread:http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=48698. So, who will be buying this on launch? I know I will, I'm not buying any other shooters this year except RO2. All the other games just seem like CoD clones or consolised pieces of ****. Hope to see you online! :) Creaturemagic.

I feel like a lot of people are hyping this game for the wrong reasons. I feel a lot of the hype is because it's only $40, it's PC exclusive, and it has mods. I feel that a lot of PC gamers are going to buy it and days later boards will be flooded with things like "why does it take more than 30 seconds to reload?" "why do I die so quickly" and other questions like that because they didn't know what the game is all about.

That said I'm extremely excited. As a guy who plays his fair share of sims it's pretty much a massive improvement over anything RO did.

I haven't played a RO game. It looks interesting but if the controls are anything like Arma 2 then I'm gonna have to pass on this one..

I'm extremely excited for this game. It looks as if it will have more tactile controls than the first one. Especially with the first person cover and the way deployed weapons move.

I am interested in this game for more than many of the reasons Wasdie listed. I am hoping it is similar in gameplay as GR was before it got consolized.

Im extremely excited about Ro2 ^^ I still play the 41-45 now, (I love the 50 man servers) and I like the odd ballance of gameplay vs realism.

Well reslism is a wrong word to use, but it just feels right, I like it in games when bullets tend to kill :P a slower more methodical version of BF2 almost (well more like 1921 but you know)

Yeah I'm pumped for RO 2, the first was one of the best shooters of all time. I'm just so sick of killstreaks, gun upgrades, knifing, and all the other terrible things shooters have been including. RO was so rewarding and unforgiving, I hope they stick with what made the first one great.

Definite buy for me! No other team based shooters have even come close to the original RO. This one only seems to up the ante. I to am so sick of games like BFBC2 where you get shot by a shotgun from 200 yards and a 1/2 mile with a smg, and die. RO demands more skill than any other shooter I've come across ( never played Arma so can't compare). It also a more mature crowd of gamers which I am and that is a huge plus in my book!

Its gonna be so dang great. The gameplay is exactly what I want. Where any gun can one hit kill if accurate, focus on shooting then spraying, working as a team, using cover, lean and move, snipers having to dial in their shots to adjust to bullet drop, dynamic maps (maps change sizes base on amount of people), a HUd that is not interfering with your game (you pop it on and off for a sec to get a feel of the battle then back off to play it out)... Oh man.. can't wait to use the AVS 36 and pop some guy mid range with a nice leading shot.

I'm pretty excited for this one too. Perhaps some of my friends will actually buy it this time so I'm not lone-wolfing with a bolt-action so much. The original game is absolutely brilliant though.

RO is NOT a sim.

It like a pretty realistic Battlefield. Simple controls. Standard fps for the most part. Just slower reloading, Vehicles are hard to take down. When you get shot in the leg, you will slow down dramaticly. Stuff like that. Pretty easy to pick up and play. Very fun though.

To be honest I don't really care for this game since it's set in WW2. Sorry but those ww2 games bore me to death. But I'm sure that many ww2 fans will love it though.

The modern era ones are the new WW2 games.

This is nice, since its something different, from CoD and BF.

I agree with you that Modern Shooters are also getting very old here. I'm tired of both WW2 and Modern FPS and that's sadly what many gamers like these days. I mean I don't hate them but man there are so many of them today. But like I said I think that WW2 fans will love this game.

Im buying it because I like FPSs (Loved ArmA, so this one will be good for me), but mostly because this is made by Tripwire. If Killing Floor is anything to go by they will be supporting this game for years to come, its will have a decent following and tons of sale over the next while.

So graphics have to be "breath taking" for you to buy a game... that's sad.

I can see myself no longer gaming in 10 years if the market continues like this. I remember the days when people weren't saying "This game looks so good, I'm gonna buy it because the graphics are great". It was more like "I played the shareware version of this and I couldn't stop... I'm definetly going to buy this".

All the younger kids have ruined gaming, hope you are all proud of yourselves.

I'd like them to make a Killing Floor 2 for their next game on the Unreal Engine 3. Also TC Tripwire didn't make The Ball they only published it.

Hopefully it's a little more intuitive and easier to play than the first game, but with the realism and Battlefield feel to it. I'm excited, but wary.

So what's wrong with that :? A lot of people have their predilection when choosing/buying games, you have no right to understate their decisions if they prefer games that have good graphics.

I'm with ya brad, alot of the developers nowadays are focusing on graphics and not enough on the gameplay. I'm gonna buy a game for the gameplay not because it has gorgeous graphics thats the least of my worries.

Day one for me. I hope it is everything COD and BF3 arnt and I hope they are everything this isnt. I have a place for all 3! I know i'm crazy for liking 3 FPS for different reasons, but it means I get 3 times the enjoyment of those who just stick to one brand. Gonna be hard to get any work done at the end of this year!

Humans are not bullet sponges in real life. Why create games that continually feature bullet sponges? Just like in Ghost Recon, one has to be more alert to what is going on instead of just shooting hordes of enemies ala CoD type games. Personally, I would rather have a game that was a challenge instead of just a point and click rail game like the CoD franchise. Gameplay always trumps graphics and GR has proven that time and again, especially as people are still modding it 10 years after it's initial release. Name a CoD type game that is still played and modded after more than a couple of years.

I'm excited for RO2, and I completely support TWI. $40 is a great bargain on their games, since they're going to keep on releasing content as long as people play the game. I'm holding off pre-ordering now until they announce any LCEs :D. Tripwire is that company who I can't wait to throw my money at.

You can tell NerubianWeaver is a CoD player. Why are you gonna even buy something if your already complaining. This isn't CoD where it takes a full magazine to take somebody out.

hydr0_32
more like one shot in the chest or head. Also people who expect to pick up the game and run around guns blasing will be very dissapointed. If HOS is anything like RO you WILL be spending alot of your time in prone..waiting to line your shot..and hope to god you hit someone.
