Not sure how there wasn't anything on this topic yet, at least from what I saw/searched.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad will be release the 30th of August at the price of $40.

So very psyched about this. This is a giant middle finger to the companies out there releasing games at a raised priced with less and less control to the customer. 40 Dollars gets you dedicated, modifiable, server support - edit kits, weapons, game types, gameplay elements etc. ESSENTIAL for a competitive community. Mod support. Lan Support. Client-side customizability support ie. UI. Demo recording function, perfect for tournaments. None of these things should be listed as plusses, but sadly this day and age, they are. They've become a rarity and it's despicable. A big up to Tripwire on their release and cheap price! This will most certainly pack a punch!

Very awesome. Glad to see some talented dev's passionate about the realistic WW2 FPS genre, doing what they love. These types of devs becoming fewer and fewer every day.

angry that it realeases right after school starts for me and i hope there is a cd version so i dont have to spend even more of my bandwidth limit to download it, but i am glad it finally has a release date. Havent played the first one, but im really looking forward to a battlefield type of game that is a good mix between arcade and sim. Arma2 was too hardcore for me :P

That's the beauty of it :) To me, Red Orchestra 2 is as" arcadey" as I want a game to be. And for others, it's as realistic as they want a game to be. It's a middle ground for simulator players and arcade players and we can have some fun!

yep, just wish my school would give me more bandwidth so i can play this and battlefield 3 online more often... but with the small limit we get, i'd be lucky to play an hour of each online along with watching hulu and stuff :(

Ah, shame. Well there "is" technically a single-player. Though, admittedly, bots are neither their focal or strong point.

WHY? I mean if it was a $60 USD game or $100 AUD game then yeah A demo would be nice after all the hyped games being lackluster (DNF). But its $40 no matter where you live, plus its PC explusive with all the features OP stated, you would be silly to pass this up if you are an FPS fan.

But its an extremely hardcore FPS, which may or may not make it fun. You wanna buy it for me since its only $40?

As the first one did not have a demo I doubt the second one will, either. But that's not to say it won't happen. You can keep your fingers crossed. There are a lot of gameplay demonstrations out now showing off the game mechanics (and the ever so clever bots ;) ). Or you can snatch up the first RO to see if it's your flavour of choice. It's still a great game and you can find servers

Bought the 1st one, but could never really get into it, but I may end up buying this (not for $40 since it will probably be similar to the 1st one) just to support them.

This game has reached my holy trinity of video games. IL-2, ArmA (Formerly Operation Flashpoint), and Red Orchestra. My best gaming experiences of my entire life have been captured in these games. In Red Orchestra there are moments where I literally feel like I am playing a scripted single-player campaign experience.. but the magic of it all, is that it's not. It's just too damn good.. and I'm so damn excited!

I paid $15AUD for the first game. Unfortunately there are no Australian servers, so I was always playing with 300+ ping. It didn't feel "hardcore" to me, it just felt a bit ... clunky (for some reason "realism" and "clunky" always go together). Anyway, what I did play I had a fun experience, but it definitely wasn't hardcore, just ... different.

I'll probably buy it during the Steam summer sale. I will be surprised if it isn't part of that. And if it isn't, it's only $9.99.

9.99 Is definitely worth the price. It's still one hell of a game, and it can help you get a feel for the game and hold back your excitement and impatience for RO2! :) On top of that, you get to support one hell of a company!

I can't believe I haven't gotten this game yet. Tripwire is an awesome studio. I'll pick that up sometime this week. I need a multiplayer shooter to hold me off until Battlefield 3. Now I have one to hold me off until the one that'll hold me off until BF.

Also, don't know how many of you have heard about this, but Tripwire is working with the community to make a Pacific campaign conversion for RO2, Rising Storm.

I can't wait to see what more great maps, mods, and content the RO community shoves out for this new game. The first RO was crammed full of it and was just awesome. Even with enough server-side modification a server could feel like a stand-alone mod.

Wow. Sounds amazing. I really need to play the first RO. Hope it's up early in the Summer sale(which is looking to start up sometime today since the midweek sale, which usually ends on a Friday, is ending today at 12PM EST according to the page for the midweek games.)

Ah, 9.99 to much? I can't blame you though. This summer sale is going to be the death of me, I swear. Anyways, RO is a pretty tight-knit community right now. There's always been a server available for me to play in though. Good luck with learning when getting the game! :) It's not terribly difficult, it just requires a different type of thinking from different shooters.

You might want to have a look atIron Front: Liberation 1944. It's an Eastern Front game made using the Arma II engine and it's looking pretty damned awesome.

If this was a normal time I would totally buy it for $9.99. But I need to save up for a new PC so the more I save on games the better.

Ah yes, I am also an avid Arma 2 player. Unfortunately it's not a game that caters to a wide audience like RO does. I suppose it's a good thing as well, it wouldn't be much of a simulator if it tried to dumb it down. But as I've said before RO is middle ground for ArmA players and the other 'twitch' players.

truthfully the game requires you to forget everything you know about first person shooters.

There is actually much truth to this statement. A better mind of thinking is "If this was real, hat would I ACTUALLY do here?" Would you swing around the corner and hope for the best (Like what would you do in majority of shooters)? Outlook not so great :p
