I just built a new PC, but most of my games were actually installed on a different drive. I just hooked this drive up in the new PC. I can play the games off the drive, but they are clearly not in the registry, etc. Is there any way to get them to register so that they are searchable in Win 8 without re-installing them all? Just curious if I could save myself the time somehow.

Either reinstalling or manually searching for everything (in the registry..) then ex & importing everything which would be a huge waste of time. So nope there's no other way than reinstalling them.

Don't mess with the registry if you don't know exactly what you're doing. W8 offers no advantage to gaming as of yet, so if I where I you I'd just go double boot. Now I don't recall exactly how to do that between 2 HDDs, would be much simpler if it was just 1HDD but I'm sure someone else here will tell you. Or you can always get on the bios every time you want one or the other ^_^ Now more seriously, try to go on the control panel, programs and use the fix option, this is just a guess but I think the thing will add to the registry on the HDD you're running your OS from and keep the installation files on the old one. Then just go C:/users/you/appdata then on 2 outta 3 subfolders (roaming and I don't recall the other because I'm on my phone) should be your saves and stuff, copy that to the same appdata subfolders on your new HDD and there's no reason why it shouldn't work, it works in a space shuttle.

As nilzg said, it's possible, but not worth the effort, time, and frustration. If they're games associated with steam, it's a lot easier.
