Is this possible? I have uninstalled and deleted all local content from Eve Online months ago, and stupid Steam is still trying to update it to its latest expansion. I don't even have this on autoupdate, I turned that feature off as I have a monthly bandwidth cap. As I hate this MMO, I hope there is a way to get rid of it, or a way to ensure it doesn't download these expansion updates. I even paused the update, but it's still maxing my download line trying to update anyways.

it only updates when a game game is installed, so check that you have removed the expansion properly through steam. if not contact steam about why it's downloading updates for an uninstalled game. you also can't remove games from your list either, once bought they always remain available to redownload.

That's what I figured. Ever since they did that mac update, Steam's been effin up. It is Autodownloading TF2 updates I don't want as well.

We'll you can also right click the game go to properties then updates and select to not receive updates for that game. Try that and see if it works

If you uninstalled it, it wouldn't have anything to update. I don't understand.

Yeah, I'm a bit lost too. I've never had Steam try to update something that wasn't installed. Unless it's an Eve-specific thing, but even then Steam would have nothing to apply update files to.

it was downloaing the entire client with the update. I left it paused, and turned off autoupdate, and it still downloads whenever i sign in, Must have been some glitch with the new Steam, but I uninstalled what it had updated and now its not updating anymore. Its not really that easy to accidentally install a game so I doubt it was on my part, but its stopped now so its cool.

Get the client for FREE from Eve's site.

Uninstall the client installed FROM Steam.

Add Eve client to Eve as a non-Steam game.

Save hassle from Steam trying to download updates and just let the client do it itself.

???

Profit

I don't enjoy how everything is done via menus and hotkeys. The visuals have no effect on the gameplay at all which is quite disappointing. It may as well be a DOS game run completely with text and hotkeys, because that is essentially the core of it, the 3d visuals are completely separate from the gameplay.

I used to play Eve alot, but it took me a good 200 hours to realize it wasn't really that fun, just a complex world that can become some people's second life. It might be the best MMO, I haven't played any other.. just not my thing.

As a last resort, you could uninstall Steam, then reinstall it. If you only have a few games on it, or have the disks for most of your games, then it won't be too much of a hassle.
