Ok, well it all started a day ago. I tried rendering some HD footage in sony vegas and my comp blue screened. It has done this before. I rebooted and tried again and it blue screened again. This happened multiple times. Usually, I am able to render HD footage easily, but this time something is wrong. Now, my gadgets randomly stop working, I tried to system restore and the latest restore point was yesterday, and my windows manager keeps crashing. Things are looking quite bad. I am wondering if any of you know what my next step should be. Im running windows 7, quad core i7 processor, 6 gb ram, 1 tb harddrive if that matters. Thanks in Advance!

Seems like you have faulty hardware, Copy the blue screen error code and google it.

I did and it kept coming up with errors that were from XP :? It seems like the catalyst is Sony Vegas. Thats what kick starts all the crashing. I reinstalled vegas and that didn't help. It all worked fine until I tried to render a typical video. It seemed so random. Any other suggestions?

burn an iso of memtest and boot/test your ram, also get programs from your hard drive manufaturer and test the hard drives too (seagate has seatools, western digital has i think data life guard or something like that, etc

New development. When I now try to put that specific clip into Vegas, it immediately crashes. If i chop off a part where i accidentally switched input on the capture device, it will accept the clip without crashing, but will not render... Is it possible this file could be corrupted in some way?

You need to find out if it's a software or hardware issue, I.E. If it's just Sony Vegas doing it. Run a stabilty test to stress your pc, such as prime95.

It seems to be just that clip for some crazy reason. I used a file converter and converted the file back to the same file type (redundant I know, but I wanted to see what happened) and it worked perfectly except for a small dip in quality (to be expected i suppose). Some wierd corrupted data or something? IDK. Thanks so much for the help guys. I'll probably run some of the things suggested on here anyway as they seem like they could be helpful.
