Try the upgrade adviser first and see if your PC can run it (with a grain of salt ...). The minimum amount of RAM is 512 I think, but on my system it ran like crap with 1GB. I've yet to try 2gigs, but I'm about to install them and test.

It'll run slow as hell with only 512MB of ram and a 2000. The Geforce FX line also sucked running D3D 9/Pixel Shader 2, and since Aero makes good use of PS2.0, performance may not be ideal. On some of the FX cards (I tested an FX5500) Vista actually steps down to the Basic sheme after installation, though Aero will still run if you "force" it from the control panel.

1GB, an Athlon 3000/P4 3.0, and an ATI 9800Pro/nvidia 6600 is a more realistic requirement for Vista with all of the 3D stuff running.

1.5GB and a dual core CPU for ideal performance.
