Its obvious the team that did the port didn't put any real effort into it. Its not like this game was destined to look so terrible; it could have easily looked just as good if not a whole lot better than the GC version. This port is nothing more than shovel-ware, and should be treated as such.
WOOOW thats the first pics i have seen of the pc version and thats bad. it should at least look as good as the gc version it should look a whole lot better what a shame
There is word from Capcom that a patch is in the works which will put the lighting, shadows, shaders, fog etc etc back into the game, along with mouse support.
When this happens it should look on par if not better than the GC version.
The port was done by Sourcenext, who also managed to mess up DMC3, why capcom even bother to use such a poor company to port their best games is anyones guess.

Looks like the ps2 version, but upscaled to higher resolutions. It looks bad because re4 used textures under 480i on the consoles, but sent a 480i image which looked almost as good but with some grain. Now take that 320 x 240 image and put it in 1024 x 760, of course its going to look jaggy and look low res like that. The game was using a low res already, and to not do a good porting job will cause the game to look just like it does now.
I think the controls would transfer just fine to keyboard + mouse, it would be like any other 3rd person game like Max Payne or GTA.
The reason it looks bad guys is becuase Sourcenext who ported the game did not implement the shaders, lighting and shadows, dont think its anything to do with textures or resolution. As i said a patch is supposedly in the works to fix this, but time will tell.
I like to look first at game play of a game, but its really hard to overlook the severe drop in quality with this one, lets hope the patches fix things.

oh..so you're just trolling. ... you're preety sad. and yeah....some amazing pcgames turned out to be complete crap on consoles. Like Mafia, Nolf or OperationFlashpoint, masterpieces on pc, horrible flops on consoles

no, they weren't. Don't feed the troll. I think Szalaszazka should be heading back to system wars now. About RE4, it truly looks like crap, but I still doubt that will be its final form, we'll see.
The textures in those pictures are about the same as the GC version. The reason why they look bad to you and me is because the high resolution of a PC monitor let's us see each bit of color, hence why it looks terrible to some of you. To me, it looks justifiably fine. I wasn't expecting any kind of detail upgrades, except maybe some dynamic shadows and lighting, that's it.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure someone will either hack the graphics code or perhaps the game is open ended like most PC games, so independent people can make better textures and add features........sigh..........I wish.

I got an example...Unreal Tournament 3. Granted it's not out yet, but come on....a fast paced first person shooter on consoles....pssshhh
Doom 3, Max Payne series, Quake series also come to mind
Graphics are much prettier and controls are far superior on PC
