NOTE: IN my Poll I said FPS, it is meant to read simply as shooter, just as the thread title does.
Which of these do u think was the most satisfying and well-made game(s)?
The Half-Life games do not include Portal or Team Fortress 2.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
While I think System Shock 2 is by far the best game on that list, I think BioShock is the worst - so I can't vote for that. And it's hard to consider them a series. BioShock doesn't even deserve the phrase spiritual successor. BioShock is a bad copy.
And While I think The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is the second best game on the list, it's not a series, so I can't vote for that.
And while Half Life 2 is awesome, both its expa--episodes are mediocre... so I'm just left with Max Payne 1 and 2. Two super awesome games.

You should have voted for Riddick, it doesnt have to be a series.
Consider the games I listed as one continuous game, that would make Riddick the shortest......but its about continuous quality in my Poll.

The NOLFs are the only games I haven't played.
Riddick is a badass game and I even like the movies, SS2 is awesome, Bioshock is crap, Deus Ex is even moreawesome than SS2, Max Payne is crap and 3PS, HL2 was nice, but the episodes are soap-operas.
Stalker, though, is the best single player game I enjoyed.
Undying was the only other option.
I've got to say Half-Life 2, with the NOLF series so close on its heels that it's kicking HL2 in the ass in mid-sprint.
1. Half Life series.
2. Max Payne series.
I don't care much for NOLF and the other ones aren't even a series, so...
3. STALKER series, once the expansion/prequal is out. :P
The poll is a little bit weird and not accurate, so I didn't vote.
why da hell isnt Crysis or Counter strike source one the list?
and an another thing, max payne isnt an fps
If you're including System Shock 2 (an FPS/RPG hybrid) in the list, then you missed a game...
DEUS EX (released in 2000)
That is the game that still stands out for me, closely followed by Half-Life 2 and the NOLF series.

People didn't even know what SS2 was until Bioshock and then hype for SS2 came out from nowehere and all of a sudden everyone played it and it's the best FPS ever made lol..... More like people who think it'll make them look kool to their geeky friends for being oldskool or something :S

Wow, I missed that first time round. Thanks for quoting it Artur.
Granelicious, you did not know what SS2 was until BioShock, and you didn't notice the hardcore cult following SS2 has had since its release - you didn't notice it because you weren't looking for it because you didn't know what it was. SS2 has been my favourite PC game since I first played it in 2001.
I always keep an eye out for people mentioning games like System Shock 2, Escape from Butcher Bay and Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines - the really great games that not enough people played - and it always makes me smile when someone drops their names. I don't get to smile as much as I'd like, but I smile a hell of a lot.
And since when is a game released in 1999 old school? Half Life came out before Shock 2. System Shock 2 is so beloved because it's a horror masterpiece, because it expertly blends genres, because it has magnificent dialogue and voice acting, and because it has such iconic and well designed enemies.

I knew what it was but I never played it because I was playing Half-Life from 1998 - 2001 with all the mods and everything. All I'm saying is hardly anyone played it or even knew what it was until Bioshock and all deciding to jump on the bandwagon of yeh this is much better than Bioshock.
I bet sales or atleast pirated downloads trippled after Bioshock and that whole Yahtzee review lol.

Maybe there are people jumping on the SS2 bandwagon - but isn't that a good thing, for people to play older games that are deemed good for their time?
Personally, I played SS2 about a year after it was first released, and really liked it, but I liked Deus Ex more.
Finally, System Shock 2 and Bioshock shouldn't really be linked together in the poll, because the games don't really have anything to do with each other. There is already a System Shock series, without dragging Bioshock into the equation.
hey, i'm glad that nolf is on the list. my vote goes to hl2, but with a heavy heart as i can't vote for nolf series as well.
cod deserves mention at the very least.
Haf-Life 2 and Epsiodes 1 & 2 probably gave me the most entertainment for my money from the poll choices, but if Deus Ex was up there I'd pick it in a flash. Deus Ex was one of my favorite games ever.BladeMaster84Yeah, it would also receive my vote if it were on the list.

Doesn't apply to me and my Poll though friend, I was right there when SS2 was released. Been PC gaming since January 1997.
Out of the choices provided I'm going to have to say Max Payne. Half Life 2 is good, but it didn't come close to impacting me the way the original game did and both Max Payne games were great shooting games. The only problem is that it isn't a FPS game so I don't know why it is on the list to begin with.smokeydabear076
I do apologize for having FPS in the title of thread originally, it was meant to read as shooter. I changed it.

Like someone said: What's the problem with that? A lot of people are playing it because of Bioshock, so freaking what? I think it's great, it deserves all the attention it gets. Some of those people are saying it's one of the best shooters out there, because it is one of the best shooters out there. Most people play older games because they enjoy them, not because they want to be "oldskool" or want to impress their "geeky friends". Even judged by (or should I say because of, lol) todays standards, SS2 is one of the finest games ever made.
You're generalizing and insulting a lot of people. When you grow up, you'll learn not to do that.
