Pair that WD Blue HDD with an OCZ 600w instead. May be a little less wattage output, but it's much more reliable and efficient.

Change your processor to the Phenom II x4 955 (HDZ955FBGMBOX). The one you picked will not go into your motherboard. Combo it up with your video card while you're at it.

Change your memory to these. Same price, but faster.

Motherboard is unneccessary, considering you're getting a discrete video card. The ASUS M4A77TD, MSI 770-G45, or even the ASRock M3A770DE motherboards have the exact same functionality without the extra cost of an IGP.

Look elsewhere for headphones. Reviews are all bad; you should take heed to their warnings. Get these instead. Or if you can skip the mic entirely, grab these.

Switch headphones to JVC HARX 700 or Superlux 681, they're well known at head-fi as budget alternatives to the A900s and AKG 240s which cost many fold more.

Scrap the card reader, you don't need it as every device can now use USB.

Switch the PSU with a higher quality one like this.

Nah the ventalation on that one will reduce OC pottential if he has to go for a cheaper case something like the CM690 or Antec 300 would be better options. Oh and better case about the same price as TC's: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=51277&vpn=6900654&manufacture=Fractal%20Design

I would much rather keep the same HAF 922, I'm making it somewhat "future proof" but also flexible enough for me to do fine tuning for change when ever the need arises.

redframe01

It's compatible but far from perfect. Cut the video card back to a regular 5770, it's a waste of money getting factory overclocked cards.

This CPU and this cooler should get you higher speeds and it costs the same.

Also like i said before get rid of that terrible headset and get some proper headphones like Superlux 681s or HARX 700s.

The 922 isn't spectacularly future proof either. If you want a true futureproof case you have to get a full tower. If you're going for a mid tower the Fractal Design Define is better and about the same price, though you can get other good cases for less.

The X4 940 is not compatible with the AM3 socket, and the X4 940 is based on the C2 stepping as well. For just $10 more, you're getting DDR3 memory capabilities and a more stable IMC, which has been proven to help reach higher clocks at lower voltages.

The 922 is actually one of the few mid-tower cases that can fit cards as large as the 5970. For me at least, a future-proof case has good airflow and room to fit the largest video cards, which are both satisfied by the HAF 922.

I changed a few things and made a compromise.

Cooling do I need the thermal compound or is it included in the box?

HardDrive

Headphones, Supra aural

HAF 932 case

unoverclocked vid card

mother board

power

CPU

DDR3

Is all of this compatable? What type of DVD drive should I use?

Looks good, and the cooler comes with thermal compound.

SATA would be optimal, since the cable is less obtrusive to airflow as IDE. Take this one. They're all basically the same, so I just picked whatever's cheapest.
