What Do You Think Its Missing ? i mean the past rollercoaster tycoon games have being really good
especially 2 :) 1 was a bit bland but was spiced up in number 2 N-Tox
I'm surprised you feel that way. Most people feel that RCT2 was just too much more of the same (exact same graphics, almost exact same gameplay with only some added rides and maps, the only change being that now you couldn't charge both a park fee and ride fee, [certainly more realistic, but made building up a budget much slower]). Not that I didn't enjoy it, more of the same was still good, I'd just hoped for a little more change in content than an expansion pack could also have given.
Anyway, one mistake I feel RCT3 made was the different age groups and genders. It seems like a cool change at first glance, but once you get in the game and actually experience it, you realize that it took away an aspect of RCT that was very characteristic and worked very well for it. There was something about RCT's clones with different colored shirts that was perfect. Everyone looked the same, yet they'd all have different personalities and ride preferences, which was what mattered, not what age they were or whether they were a man or woman. In RCT3, this aspect seemed to take a step backward, and the game lost some of its charm in the process.
That's just one example, though, of how RCT3 tries to add realism to the world of RCT. The problem with doing that is that RCT wasn't great because of how realistic it was, it was great because of how it mixed actual realism and hypothetical realism, how it was designed realistically in all the rights ways and designed for fun in the right ways. Some of the realisms also just felt totally unnecessary, and ultimately were just an annoyance.
Food and drink stalls now had amount of toppings for hamburgers and stuff like that, which sounds interesting, but in my experience the guests complained about how few toppings there were everytime unless you put the maximum amount on. Employees now would get lazy and less efficient, and you'd have to discipline them or give them raises. Again, seems cool on the surface, but it turned out to just be a pain, and you could only discipline them so many times, meaning they would eventually just keep getting less and less efficient (so you'd have to fire all of them when they get this way, at some point). Those are just two more examples, there are others that I can't think of at the moment.
Another thing I didn't like was the overhall of the interface and even general art design. The whole game had this foreign look to it, and I couldn't help thinking "Is this really a RCT game?" The interface has this sparkly little "pop" look to it (and the in-game music not from the rides goes along with that, and neither feels right), and the rides and scenary have a slightly more cartoonish look to them than the realistic design approach of the originals (this was one aspect of realism that worked in the previous games' to their advantage, and they changed it).
And lastly, no merry-go-round music. They got rid of it. I know, right? Now all you've got that's really appropriate for a merry-go-round is some song called Prairie Riders. Blegh...
Anyway, like I said, still a pretty good, fun game, and any RCT fan should try it out. I just felt it did a variety of things wrong, and suffered for it.
