in terms of computer game progression, medieval 2 is simply the better game - it's bigger, it has more features and diversity, it's just a more refined, more evolved game
but the two games really are so similar in terms of structure and technology that you really should just go for the setting you prefer - if you want to play in the roman empire you should go all out for rome, if a general medieval setting appeals more, then unquestionably get m2
rome has a little more content, since it has two expansions out - but the vanilla campaign in m2 is massive, and there's an equally enormous expansion in the works
it's a tough call, and it's more about preference than quality - i prefer medieval 2, myselfÂ
