Hello...I'm thinking about getting either Rome Total War or Company of Heroes...My computer will run both fine, but I'd have to tone down the visuals on Company of Heroes a bit I think (X1300 video card, 128 meg). I'm looking for something that'll have some replay value and the whole "time killing" aspect which, I think goes more to Total war, but I'm intrigued by the visuals/panaz of Company of Heroes. Could I please get some thoughts as to you people that have experienced both? I appreciate it. Thanks!
I own both and I enjoy both. I do prefer Company of Heroes though.
I would say it is down to the setting, scale and type of RTS you want to play. If you want a roman (swords, arrows etc.) era RTS on a massive scale with no base building/resource gathering (except on the global campaign map) then obviously Rome: Total War. If you want a World War 2 RTS on a far smaller scale with the basic base construction and a system where you capture points on the map to earn resources then obviously Company of Heroes.
You can't loose, whichever game you decide to go with, but as previously stated I would recommend trying out the demos for each game to see what you like more.

That's exactly what I was going to say. They are fairly different games, Rome: Total War being more of a conquer the world game, and Company of Heroes being a small(er) battles type game. It would come down to personal preferance because they are both awesome games.
ROME will keep you on your chair for long hours 20 + i might say but ... Company of Heroes will keeep you with your blood pumped up all the time .... its like your feeling what your men are doing its like you are there with them ! Persoanlyy i recomend CoH ... but ROME is great 2 !
COH is better. Better looking, better unit control, better online multiplayer, and better story. I liked every single Total war games since the beginning but really battles always seemed to degenerate into a big muddy mess of 100's of units meshed together in close combat that resembled some mosh pit at brazilian rock concert. Just me I guess but I prefer a more controlled measured approach to my rts and CoH just did that so well.
