I have never played games on the PC (played them on consoles).  I am looking to get Oblivion but I wanted to know if there was anything else I needed to get.  My pc runs well and has the standard video card that came with it.  Would I need a new one to play games such as Oblivion?  If so, what top of the line video cards are available?  Thanks in advance for your help

Based on the wording of your thread, i am going to guess there is a 99% chance your machine can't run Oblivion. We need to knwo the specs of your PC though

Try posting your specs: CPU, RAM, and graphics card.

You can find this info by doing the following: go to START -> RUN. in the little dialog box that appears, type DXDIAG and hit enter. A program will appear with several tabs. In the first tab you will find your CPU and RAM info. Then go to the DISPLAY tab and youll find the make, model and memory of your graphics card. Copy all that info and post it here :) :) :)

Video card and RAM are probably your two big factors.  May need to update your video card

If you are unsure your PC can run any current game head over to http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest and run the test of that particular game.

Keep in mind that a computer just meeting the minimum requirements for a game will probably not run the game all to well, and you'll have to turn all the eye candy down.
