I just ordered a Rosewill 950 watt PSU with 80 plus bronze certification. I also have a Phenom II X4 965 currently building. Is this power supply beefy enough for those upcoming cards from AMD? My Gateway FX came with a 700 watt no name PSU and it seems to handle my q9300 with 8800GT SLI ok but I know its pushing it. Thanks guys

950 watt PSU is more than enough for 5870. These new cards are more power efficient than the 4000 series so you got nothing to worry about

Yes it will be fine, however Rosewill psus tend to be of questionable quality, as in: They are the highest low end quality, but about high-end I'm not sure.

Personally I wouldnt have bought a Rosewill PSU. I would have gotten less wattage and better brand like Corsair,Antec,OCZ, etc

Use the PSU Tool here and you will have a better idea of how much power you are pushing ATM.

He isn't even close to nearing 950watts. Going to be less than 500watts.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys. GS forums are the best! Anyway, I bought it today cause NewEgg had em on sale for $109 which it ususally is $179 but for $175 I couldve gotten the Antec 1000 watt as it was on sale as well. Anway I guess its better than getting a Xion 1000 watt or a Coolmax 950 watt for $99 as I heard those are just downright poor.

Are you sure your not adding your monitor into that?

Because the Peak wattage for the 4870X2 is 300w... CPU is what 130W... I'm not sure how you can get 600w on that rig.

Rosewill's are fine, but if there is a power surge or lightning storm going on, you better shut off your PC cuz those things will pop and smoke like nothing. I just got the new 850 watt modular PSU by Corsair. I doubt that I would need more than that and even in SLI, it won't be pushing it.

Do note that if you have a 550watt psu and it's using 550watts it will use like 630 watts on the outlet due to its efficiency.
