Now it might just be me but I can't find any really enjoyable RPG games right now, it used to be the genre of games which I loved the most. But recently it's been filled with disappointment, I never finished NWN 2 and KOTOR, only did 6 days of the WOW trial and hated Guild Wars. The only recent one I enjoyed was Oblivion. I enjoyed the old ones like Dungeon Siege collection and old NWN where the emphasis was install and play, no long character creation and planning on what skills to build up.

So any suggestions on recent games which should suit my style of RPG where hack 'n' slash is more important that which of the 40 skill to upgrade??

Have you tried Jade Empire? The graphics are quite nice and reminicent of guild wars but there is a nice RPG element to the game and it is very story driven, with your choices affecting how others treat you and the types of skills you can use (Open or Closed path, as it is known in the game).

Well, with all due respect the old "hack n' slash" style of gaming is pretty much dead. Dev's have moved away from it, because the Diablo franchise pretty much defined that style of play, and then perfected it with Diablo 2, which no one has been able to come close in reproducing success wise. Also, hack n' slash is seen as being pretty shallow due to its simplicity and lack of options, which are lacking because its so simple. The only recent games I can think of that might do it for you are Fable and Jade Empire, but even they have the skill upgrade and complexity that you seem to not like.

Another game you might want to check out is Rakion. It's like Unreal Tournament and Diablo 2 combined into one. It's multiplayer, which is fantastic, is the games main focus, but it has RPGesc hack and slash "levels" you can do, which range from super easy to f'ing impossible.

Ragnarok Online is not at all recent, but it definetly has what you are looking for, so I would reccommend checking it out.

Beyond this I'd say your best bet is to go someplace like MMOSite.com and check out asian, specifically Korean, online games since for the most part, they are all nothing but hack n' slash fests.

Try Titan Quest. Very Diablo/Dungeon Siege - ish, and very good as well.

Ofcourse i dont know which games you know and which you don't know but if i were you i would try some of these classics:

Baldurs Gate (1 & 2)

Icewindale (1 & 2)

Fallout (1 & 2)

Planescape Torment

Recent Games: I must say im having a hard time on that too...

Titan Quest (Better solution than Sylverfall)

Sylverfall (i didn't like the game but it could be nice to you)

But to be honest i must agree with you that most RPG's nowadays don't really have the quality i'm looking for. Oblivion was fun for a while but get's boring.

I recently got some game demo's for the older games like Diablo so will give those a try soon.

It's not thats theres anything wrong with the more complex RPGs its just that it would be nice to have a simple one come along.

Rakion is pretty good...dynasty warriors is alright too...other than that i cant think of any good, new "hack n slash" games out there...never was a major fan of button mashers.

Titan Quest is very good. Great hack/slash gameplay. It's like Diablo 2 but in a Geek Mythology setting
