It is impossible to finish an RPG so fast without enjoying it properly...

Fable. You can complete that pretty quickly.

You can also complete the main storyline in both Oblivion and Fallout 3 really quickly.

Fallout 3 can be 100% in about 30 hours once you know the world. If you are just sprinting to the credits (no idea why you would want to) you can beat it in about 7 hours.

Its also fun to replay as different character builds.

Edit:

Morrowind can be beat FAST if you know the world inside and out, i saw a speed run that was 7 minutes. My personal best speed run was ~25 minutes.

I understand that it may take over a hundred hours to completely get everything out of an RPG game. What I am looking forward to is simply to enjoy a nice story with some pretty good gameplay elements.

Unfortunately I did & I finished it in around 10-ish hours :cry: and it sucks that you can't continue the game after the main quest is over:(

Mass Effect is a great game, and can be finished in around 20-25 hours if you do all of the side quests, and maybe 15-20 hours if you skip them.

Without doing the side quests in Mass Effect (and don't worry, you won't be missing out on anything, they suck for the most part), it's easily about a 20 hour game.

Fable = ~10 hours. Oblivion = ~10 hours (~20 with guilds) Morrowind = ~17 hours.

The games already said work great if you're short on time.

By the way, Fallout 3's main Q can be finished in little more than two hours, nowhere near 10 hours "rushing".

the idea of rushing through an RPG, or even only doing the main quest, just feels so unnatural to me. When I started games like Morrowind I went about doing just about everything I could apart from the main quest. I ended up putting in hundreds of hours into one character, but thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

Fallout 1 and Deus Ex (FPS/RPG hybrid) can be finished in under 30 hours easily. I think Fallout took me 14 or 15 while Deus Ex was around the same.

I haven't finished Fallout 2, but I found the original to be pretty short, about 10-15 hours. And I did as many of the side-quests and stuff as I could find xD

I really didn't! I took my time and enjoyed every moment of it. Although, I think I may have gotten the upgraded power armour slightly earlier than I should have, and that definitely made the game shorter, since that alongside my Super Sledgehammer, made me near enough unstoppable xD

Fable just isn't fun unless you bother training your character and getting skills for it.
