Can't go wrong with Rome: Total War.
Love that game.
THERSOfi
The first game that came to my head when I saw the word "epic"
Age of Empires 2. 8)Funkyhamster
Agreed, all the older style RTS games of the time. The top down view where you build bases and build up armies.
BFME 2.gs_gear
BFME 1 is where all the epicness is kept :P
siege towers and huge walls, battering rams and epic-sized gates.
Supreme Commander, Age of Empires (1,2 and 3 are all great, 3 is best with all the expansions, on it's own its not the best) and of course the infamous Starcraft.
Can't forget Starcraft
Well, you choose ;):
Supreme Commander (to not lag like this you need a decent dual core or a quad core and at least 2 gb of ram)
Rome: Total War
Medieval 2: Total War
I would go with Supreme Commander, but the other two are good too, especially Rome :).
I don't exactly know, they are almost the same in gameplay, but I had more fun with Rome for some reason :), maybe it's because I'm not too fond of the period in wich Medieval 2 is placed, or I don't know. For me Rome was more fun but try the demos, I don't remember if Medieval 2 had one but I'm sure Rome does.
Anyway all of them are good :) you can't go wrong with any of them, but be prepared if you choose Supreme Commander, because you have to be fast to set up a decent well organized base that can produce units non stop and still have enough resources to maintain the stability of your base. It is a very fun game but you will lose a lot in the first matches, but after a while you get to know it better and start to win :). Rome and Medieval 2 are slower than Supreme Commander but still intense.
