Hello to all who read this,

My friend and I are playing RTS Games (Lan) but now we have played the same games to often.

We have played age of empires 3 and Civilization (TBS i know)

But now I am looking for an other not to old game which we can play.

My friend Does not like magic in games and I very much Doubt that he likes the future/alternate reality settings like Daw2 or Supreme commander

So my question is: does anyone of you have a suggestion?

I would be very gratefull...

Not much choice left if it cant be in the future or alternate reality lol. Red alert series could be sweet but that is alternate. Same with SC. WC3 would be amazing but not magic... Hmmm... Company of heros then, or empire total war, or World in Conflict are my suggestions. Any of the total war games.

EDIT: Not World in Conflict, its seet in an alternate reality in the 80's so thats out.

as long as there are no spaceships or magic in it than I think it would be ok. And warcraft 3 is cool, i paly it with some other friends but apperantly not everyone like it.

I'll try company of heroes and world in conflict. I have CoH here and World in conflict, well, I wanted to buy that one anyway.

I don't think my laptop can handle Empire total war. But as for the single player, it is great:0

Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Anyone who doesn't like StarCraft is a commie. Make him play that.

matte3560 whats wrong with your Age 2?

i have never had a problem running LAN.

But for the TC Age 2 is deffinatly a great LAN game, my favorite game to LAN, if you can get 8 people to play 4v4 or 2v2v2v2 its amazing.

Company of Heroes is deffinatly a close second for my favorite LAN game

Have you got the Age of Empires 3 expansion packs? They add a LOT to the game.

i know, I usually played with the Chinese or the WC indians who have tipi's and not the wooden houses. so not the Iroqui

As for Empire total war, great game but my laptop can't run it..

and I would very much like to keep that friend as a friend so forcing him to play starcraft if he does not like it would not do the trick I think...

Unfortunately we have already played AoE 2 for so long before we played AoE 3 so as for trying something new I don't think that that would work.

I do not suppose that anyone has any more suggestions?

P.s. I am most gratefull that you are responding, especially since most topics concerning lan games usually have none or only a few replies...

If your looking for a good tactical game to play I suggest Men of War. Its a fantastic WW2 RTS where you control your army like a normal RTS but have the option to personally control any soldier or vehicle in your army for some real person tactics. Me and my friend play LAN together and have spent whole days playing this game against each other or playing the co-op campaign. Truly a game worth looking into. Look it up on youtube for gameplay footage. Hope this helps!

Well, it simply dossent show my friends game, he cant see mine either. It worked for 5 minutes over wireless, then we lost connection. we hooked up a router for cabled play and restarted both games (without wireless transmitters hooked up). This time i couldnt find his game, and he couldnt find mine. I tried both Windows 7 and Vista, didnt work in either (i dual boot them). Note that both me and my friend use 64-bit OS'es and that he has Vista.

Supreme Commander is great for versus, I wouldn't disregard it. Men of War is also excellent, and it has a quite amazing 4 player cooperative campaign.
