The era of high CPU prices is coming to a close; no more Intel milking the market because AMD can't put it out.

"The processor tested was operating at overclocked speeds so we can tell that performance should be a tad bit higher than the stock variants."
O.K., now test that single thread performance against an i7 7700K @ 5Ghz. You either compare them stock to stock or OC to OC. Otherwise, do not compare them at all. Bullshit article.
@BassMan: They did say 1700X clocks "a little above 4GHz" with XFR, but now I'm not sure anymore if that's a general statement or is that the clock used in the test. We'll know soon enough.
Fine with me. In real-world gaming tests, no one would be able to tell them apart unless there's a framerate counter and that's the bottom line.

If he did he would see the massive amount of reviews showing the opposite, in which in gaming STOCK i5's are surpassing them in performance.. Which wouldn't be that big of a deal if it weren't for the fact that the Ryzen so far has shown to be a absolute horrid overclocker to the point that I have seen people able to overclock locked intel chips further than these chips..
Single threaded is definitely worse, but it's not bad at all considering the price and how many cores you get.
Yeah this does not agree with a lot of the things I've read/watched.
AMD is aiming for the middle with these. They are not meant to compete with the i7-7700k at 5GHz.
The 1800X is very promising though. It offers the same performance as Intel's 6900k, but at half the price at $499.
The 1800X does it better with SMT turned off... Making it similar to 7700K threadwise.
Honestly we need to give it some time before we really judge the Ryzen line-up. Yeah the OC potential seems small. But damn for that price compared to the HEDT lineup from intel I am willing to sacrifize a litte bit.
Also most of these reviewers are reviewing the F1 stepping or revision I believe. I've heard from other forums that F4 is supposed to be the retail version, though Is it unrealistic to assume that power draw will be lower or OC potential possibly going up?
