Has anybody uploaded the new Safari 4.0? It really shiny and all, and I've always loved Safari more than any other browser, but this new version keeps giving me the Rainbow Beachball of Dead every so often... It's really annoying, and I have a new MacBook that I got this Christmas so it can't be computing power... Can it? Is anybody else having this problem?

Same for me.

Also, I've grown so accustomed to AdBlock that using any other browser is somewhat of a shock on sites with prominent ads.

Even if you're in a Mac, you shouldn't be using Safari.

Yeah, but I hear they're working on it. A Mac version should be available before too long. Can't say the same for Linux unfortunately.

Is Firefox really that good? I was waiting for Chrome because I mean... Come one... It's Google... Is Firefox the right way to go for now?

Wait for the 3.5 update that's going to be released later this month if you're going to try Firefox.

Thanks man. And on that note I'm going to go look into Firefox right now.

Safari 4.0 gets a 100/100 on the acid3test. Firefox gets 72/100... Also safari 4.0 does better on the futuremark benchmark test.

As a pure web browser HTML engine, Safari's Webkit is the most future proof. It will perform the best with Web applications using AJAX + HTML 5 canvas. What Firefox and Gekko have to their advantage is... plugins, extensions and more plugins. Firefox is not focusing on speed, it's focusing on extendability. Either or, they will both do the job. But if you are on a mac, i recommend sticking with Safari, or even going for the webkit nightly. It is always the fastest web browser available, but it is more unstable then Safari 4. I keep all three of the aforementioned browsers on my Mac, and use the webkit nightly as my primary. Webkit nightlys are available at http://webkit.org/ they use the Safari 4 UI Firefox 3.5 beta doesn't do too well in benchmarks on my machine, safari is by far better optimized for OS X. But if you are a normal user, you won't notice any difference.

Yeah I tried Firefox and it was really painful to watch the scrolling. I uninstalled it three seconds later. I think I'll still to Safari for now. I've used it since the beginning so...

scrolling? i haven't had issues with firefox in that regard, Opera, you bet, their browser _sucks_ on mac, but at least on my 3.5 beta firefox browser the scrolling is a-ok. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/Irickthemousecat/Picture2.png my results, ignore the Safari 3.1.1. It was from my iPod, i was curious, but it failed because of the whole Javascript execution time limit on the iPod/iPhone.
