Below is a qoute from 'Rock, Paper Shotgun' that sums up all my feelings now :)

"SR3 has a scenario based on (at least) Lawnmower Man crossed with TRON crossed with Hackers crossed with.... Tank for the Atari 2600? And the factions name is a Shadowrun reference? All right, ALL RIGHT. FINE. I'll pre-order it! You happy now, THQ?"

I thought that looked great. Saints Row was never "GTA's poor cousin" in my opinion, it was always the fun uncle. It has such a light hearted spirit and such crazy characters, I'm glad to see the third one is taking it a step farther. My only concern is it will probably be made mostly for the consoles.

Not pre-ordering here.

Don't get me wrong the game looks really good and a lot of fun but SR2 was such a hanous port it made GTA IV seem like a PC exclusive.

I'll wait for reviews to see if i'll get the PC or PS3 version

This is something I'll rent or borrow on consoles. It will probably be a trash port anyways. I'm sure it will be fun though.

Looks brilliantly over the top and goofy.

Considering the developers are actually putting time into the PC version (Red Faction Apoc being further evidence of that), I'm certainly interested in it - even after the horrible porting of SR2.

Meh... S.R. always felt like GTA's poor cousin. Nothing in that video made me want to buy this.

Raxzor

Since SR2 the game has created its own identity. GTA went down the path of frowns, seriousness, rigid gameplay bent on realism while Saints Row 2 (and onwards evidently) strutted in entirely the opposite direction, and was far better for it in actually standing out.

Yes this is the game that encourages you to act like a maniac that players usually do in GTA games, whereas the latest large incarnation of GTA insisted we should care about our Eastern European protagonist's struggle, while we mowed down old ladies between cut scenes.

Saints Row is now quite frankly is far more intelligent in understanding the relation between its tone, functionality and story, then GTA IV ever was.

As a couple of other people said - yeah, SR2 was GTA where they decided to focus on the fun instead. Granted, I played it on the 360 and avoided the horrible PC porting issues, but I had a blast with that game. My friends and I have had 3 preordered for more coop goodness for a while now. :D

This game is being developed by Volition, Inc., and the PC version will be made in house, by veteran PC developers, aka the same guys that brought us Descent: The Great War, Freespace 2, Red Faction 1, and Red Faction: Armageddon(which by the way scored a good 4-5 points higher on metacritic for the PC version than for the console versions which is unprecedented for a game that isn't effectively a PC exclusive), Red Faction 3: Guerrilla PC version is vastly superior to the console versions avoiding "physics simulation accuracy scaling[down in the case of consoles])". Red Faction 4: Armageddon PC version was made in-house and it has insane optimization comparable with pc versions of Just Cause 2 and STALKER: COP. If RF4 is anything to go by, SR3 will run smooth like a baby's butt while providing better far better visuals than the console versions(much like how Oblivion on X360 just wasn't playable if you've seen the PC version).

The most hardcore PC gamers are into simulators. Freespace 2 is unanimously considered the greatest and most well made space simulator of all time. It follows that real PC gamers should be supporting Volition, Inc., and not Portstar, I mean Rockstar. Check out their latest in-house PC version: Red Faction 4: Armageddon(best PC version for a game that didn't primarily sell on PC since Gears of War 1)before making any hasty judgements

That's awesome. Gotta love the saints row dev team for actually working their butts off to get some cool content like that in there. Thinking outside the box. Gotta love it.

Until the next GTA game comes out that tries to make the game more fun then for me, SR 2 and 3 are going to be the ones I prefer. GTAIV was too much about graphics to make it much fun. There was just something less fun about the game compared to SR2.

If its actaully optimized Ill get it. SR2 had some horrid issues though with performance, the base game was pretty good though.

That video though didn't do much for me, prefer this video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN2-WSyRuO0&feature=related

Saints Row ain't for skeptics. That's the best way of putting it. If you can't watch the trailer, laugh a bit and just go with it, the game isn't for you.

The rest of us know what we're in for :).

I've already explained this, SR2 on PC is an out of house port; Red Faction 4: Armageddon on PC is an in house portwith a 4-5 points above its console counterparts. Saints Row 3 PC version will be an in house port, i.e, it will be made by Volition, Inc. this time. Technically it's not what most PC gamers mean by "port" since it will be running natively on the PC much like Red Faction 4: Armageddon did. Ports wrap emulator code around the game so it can run on PC with few changes but with a massive performance hit, SR3 runs natively on PC.

Well I am not impresed by the first video the second one made me hink again, it may be fun probably give it a try, GTAIV's main problem was its was very scripted and the game lacked a lot of content, although the story is very good and immersive even funny at times(not pull my finger funny). I still play GTA IV at times but usually little online play and also got into the modding thing which is very entertaining and fun to do.

I never played the first one, but I loved the second one and played it 3 times over the years.

I would pre-order this game, but I want to see the reviews for the PC version so I can decide between that or the PS3.

I'm only doing this because I heard that the PC port was really bad for SR2. I was a PS3 gamer back then.

Let me explain again for people who have trouble reading. SR2 PC version was not made by Volition inc. and as such it's no surprise it was just emulator code wrapped around the actual game so it could run on PC(literally the definition of console port). Red Faction 4: Armageddon PC version was made by Volition inc. and the PC version scored well above the console versions on metacritic. For Saints Row 3, Volition, Inc. confirmed that they will also be making the PC version, as such, comments on worrying about SR3 being a port are not only asinine but are also unwarranted as it is 100% confirmed that it will be like RF4, a dedicated PC version which runs natively on the PC. Please read this post before posting the same thing again and again, I understand comprehension isn't expected due to the weakening of education in many countries(and hence the credential inflation), but you can read it several times if you have difficulty understanding.

Of course it doesn't, however, Volition, Inc.'s track record of in-house PC versions has been flawless since the 1990's, the only time there was any issue is when they'd have a seperate studio make the PC version like we saw with Saints Row 2. RF4(with visuals surpassing consoles by a long shot, highres textures, far better physics simulation while maintaining absolutely minimal system requirements the John Carmack way)seems like enough proof for me to know that Volition Inc. is still one of the greatest PC developers, if they make the PC version in-house, obviously. Heck, their Freespace 2 pretty much ended the space simulator genre due to being so good and going open source.

Definitely won't pay the full price.. probably will wait few months til it drops to at least 25 dollars.

I got saints 2 for cheap and it was terrible...spastic running, stupid car handling, specially awful console port, with those mediocre graphics i was struggling to reach 30 fps.

Anyways, if all that stuff is fixed, it can be fun to play coop with few friends, but the real price of that game is less than 30 dollars..

I disagree, I feel that after san andreas rockstar decided to drop the goofy fun that made me love the GTA series so much. Voltion picked up that dumb fun and ran with it.

Maybe SR2 was poor on release but I picked it up in the recent steam sale and it works perfectly fine from a technical stand point.
