Hello,

I have a Samsung A/V receiver 7.1 systemwith hdmi inputs and outputs. Im looking at buying a bluray player, the BD-C5500. If I take an hdmi cable and plug it from this bluray player and into my a/v receiver will i be able to hear movies in full digital 7.1?

thanks

Yes, you plug your BD-player into your receiver then into your TV.

Some will tell you differently. Truth is the only 7.1 game on the 360 was Prototype and even that was fake. It was just 7.1 mixed into 5.1 to be decoded by the receiver. It was to test out some new tech for DTS' Neo:6 (DTS' version of Pro Logic I believe.) Only the PS3 and PC have real 7.1 sound, as well as Blu-Rays.
