Hey all, I was just wondering what thoughts and opinions you folks have on Sandisk's Sansa e200 line of MP3 players. I'm thinking of picking up a Sansa e260 4GB because I found what appears to be a really good deal on a refurbished one - only $50 when new ones go for about $130 depending on the retailer. I have a Sansa m240 1GB from a few years back that has served me well, had very good sound quality and I liked the FM tuner. My only real gripes with it were the song capacity and the weird screen backlight that only seemed to turn on when it felt like it. The e260 would resolve these issues, and includes video and picture functionality and a built-in, user-replaceable rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. My m240 takes 1 AAA battery and gets pretty good battery life on it, but I would like the convenience of a built-in rechargeable. Anyway, if there are any other better deals out there that you know about (on any good player, not necessarily just a Sansa), or if you have any feedback or experience with the Sansa line then I'd really appreciate hearing about it.
I have a e270r (basically the same thing just a 6GB with Rhapsody compatiblity). I think it has pretty good sound quality (I'm usually picky about that :P). It also gets between 11-15 hours battery life. Has some nice vids, pics, radio, and voice recording features. The only issues I have are that sometimes after syncs with the computer, when you unplug it, it has to do a database refresh of the songs and I've had issues with it freezing during the refreshes on a couple occasions (hasn't happen for a while tho). This can be fixed, by just reformating it and puting the songs back on and doesn't happen very often so it hasn't bothered me too much . Also the thumbwheel on mine is starting to get a little screwy and kind of makes the cursor jump around on the screen (but I think i just need to clean it :P). Also, you can only charge them by plugging them into the computer, can't use an outlet (unless you buy a seperate adapter) Otherwise I haven't had to much trouble with it. My main concern was getting some good bass sound out of it (which I've had bad luck with other players and bass), and since to me it has it I've let the other little things slide. May or may not be deal breakers for you, but wanted to mention them.
Well, after reading around and doing my research, I decided to order one of the refurbished Sansa e260's! It really seems like it will be a great little device. SanDisk hasn't steered me wrong yet, so here's hoping I will have nothing but good things to say about it once I get it and have had a chance to use it a bit. I'll post here with my thoughts on it.
Wow OK, so over a week later and the thing still hasn't shipped. Buy.com still says the order was "Sent to Warehouse." I'm sure it has to do with this being the holiday season but they seriously don't seem to be in any sort of hurry to fulfill my order. Between this and another recent order from Buy.com I haven't exactly been impressed with their processing speed. Oh, here's the product page for the Sansa e260, in case anyone was wondering: http://www.buy.com/prod/Sandisk-Sansa-e260-Rhapsody-4GB-MP3-Player/q/loc/58207/206611716.html. They appear to be out of stock now but they may come back in stock later on. That other order from them I mentioned making was a speaker setup by Pioneer (here: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204509050) that went out of stock shortly after my order, only to come back in stock a couple days later, with a $20 lower price (of course). They wouldn't give me any sort of price protection refund because I made a request for it 3 days after the order was made (oh how convenient that the speakers were "out of stock" for just such a period before the price was lowered...)
