Id like some gunplay. Id like it to be futuristic. And Id like for the scale to be on the larger side. Just start throwing suggestions. Doesnt HAVE to be a shooter but I want a good story to follow and enjoy.

Homeworld doesn't really fit the above criteria, but it's a definite if you're into RTS games. Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space, Dead Space 2 and Crysis 2 all have better-than-average stories, IMO. Halo: Combat Evolved is a great choice if you haven't played it yet.

Oh Ill take RTS, RPG, or FPS. Anything. Dead Space 2 sounds like a good idea. I might get that the next time its on sale. Ive played ME1-2, Homeworld, SC2, Crysis 1 and Borderlands. Crysis 2 also sounds like a good idea though. Anything else?

Crysis 2 is nice, allthough dead space 2 is a lot better, if you haven't played dead space 1 you have to play that, you're missing out. deus ex hr isn't too bad either If you liked borderlands you will probably like dead island , allthough it's more of a sci-fi horror setting (zombies you know)

Mass Effect 1. Dead Space 1 & 2. Homeworld 1 & 2. Deus Ex: HR (wonderful game). But I'm a Dead Space-fanatic at heart. I love the DS universe. Also check out others like the original Crysis and Warhead. Those are good fun if you have a good PC gaming machine.

Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, will keep you busy.

I had and played Crysis 1 and loved it. Finished it and never installed it again. I also own Warhead but cant for the life of me bring myself to finish it. I just dont like how it plays anymore - or at least - I hate that its more of a system hog and a good game. I dont know. I also owned DS at some point and played through a little before quitting. I recently looked at the ending on youtube to catch up. I could get DS2 if I wanted to and I think I will if it goes on sale for a good price during the coming Steam Sales. I totally forgot about DE: HR. I think that would be a good one. I do have a thing for set pieces though. Just been in the mood for something large scale since earlier when I watched all the Halo Reach cutscenes on youtube. lol hate all you want but I was never going to be able to play that game since all I have is a PS3. Halo Reach is pretty intense. Oh and i played Homeworld 2. I will ALWAYS love that game. It was magnificent.

He said good stories, not plot-hole ridden, sci-fi channel worthy, putrid trash.

Crysis: the main game is quite fun, although the story coulda been a bit better. BUT it has a bunch of mods, check out its page on moddb. Worth getting for sure.

Borderlands: kinda sci-fi ish i guess? absolutely hilarious game, enjoyed every part of it. except underdome.

Deus Ex: ive played 1 and HR, both are very good and fun.

If your looking for good writing/story stay away from Fallout 3. Play 1,2 and NV though. 3's story was terrible.

What about adventure games like Blade Runner and Beneath a Steel Sky ?

Hmm. Depending on Gunplay you could play certain classes on SWTOR. (though this may not be what you are looking for)

That aside, there is the Mass Effect Series, and the Dead Space series. (both can be had for great prices during online sales)

Deus Ex series. E.Y.E Cybermancy. Might want to check out Hard Reset as well (not sure about the story, but has good gunplay and is set in sci-fi unless I am mistaken)

If you haven't tried even half of these yet, then they should keep you occupied for a while.

Let me Also add these 3 star wars games to the list.

1. Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast

2. Jedi Knight Jedi Academy

3. Republic Commando

They all have plenty of shooting in them, the first 2 also have lightsaber battles!

Also take a look at some of the Red Faction games! The first was my favorite. The second was ok, the Third is more of an open-world game, big in scale like you mentioned)

Crysis, Stalker, System Shock series and Deus Ex series. Then you have the medicore stuff which is completely unbelieveable such as Mass Effect, Bioshock, Ass creed and /facepalm Star Wars etc.

Exactly. Hence the suggestion of Mass Effect.

Both of those are great. Some of my favourite games of old. They're quite hard to find now, I believe.

I'd give my nods to Homeworld, KOTOR and System Shock 2. Mass Effect is more about the world/lore and grandeur same goes with StarCraft 2s campaign. Not really a PC suggestion but If you own a Wii, it's well worth playing the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Their stories are more in the way of how its told as opposed to how it is.
