Well here's a few reasons
1) you can take advantage of not having to unplug and replug everything each time you switch from console to tv.
2) Take advantage of blu ray (trust me its worth it)
3) it uses a lot less power and it's better for the enviorment
4) Games look amazing in hd
So in the end if you're not poor then you should get an hd tv
The difference between SD and HD is the same as day or night, or summer or winter.
Just make sure you buy Full HD (1080p), and not HD Ready (1080i).
I've heard that people who bought HD Ready TV, have regret that later, after they have seen the Full HD.
I suppose if you dont find value in a nice picture, then thats your decision. If you like living in the past with retro technology, thats fine. I hope your tv lasts for years and years. Personally, i got rid of my sdtv the second i could afford it...over ten years ago.
You are doing your PS3 or 360 a great disservice if you don't hook them up to a HDTV. The difference is night and day, when hooked to a HDTV.After playing on a HDTV, there is no way I could ever go back and play my 360 on a SDTV.
Yeah. I finally have HDTVs in every room now. I have a 55 in Toshiba LCD on my living room wall, 46in Bravia LCD in my bedroom, 32 in Samsung LCD in one of my in sons rooms,a 50in Toshiba DLP in my daughters room, and a 26in Toshiba LCD in my other sons room. So finally no more SD for me, but I did still keep the 27in Magnavox CRT, which I've had for about 10 years now, so it has done my a great service! Thinking about selling it at a yard sale for about 20.00. But I agree with you Videodogg, he should go HD for sure, he won't regret it,and probably wish he did it earlier.I suppose if you dont find value in a nice picture, then thats your decision. Yes.
I wish I had another HDTV. It's quite annoying having to switch HD and SD on my PS3 depending on what other people in the house are doing.(we only have on HDTV in the living room).
I will say that the PS1 classics look shockingly worse on HDTV and are actually much more tolerable on SDTV.
Yeah , I think the classic systems generally look better on a CRT. If I ever get my game room up and running I am going to hook the Saturn , Jaguar, t-16,N64,and Genesis up to standard def tvs. I may hook the Dreamcast, Cube, and PS2 up to cpu monitors. Who knows, one can dream can't he?Yes.

Came to my mind that after you see the HD on your own soffa, you realize how bad the SD really looks (DVDs and video games both) and that there's no way you're going to downgrade back to SD.
Bit off-topic, but for those who knows the difference between HD and SD:
They're already planning the next HD standard that comes after Full HD.
It's called SHV (also known as UHDTV). Google for more info if you're interested.

Most people would not notice, i bet even i wouldn't notice with perfect vision.

Lol, the difference between 720p and 1080p is negligible at what? 20 feet on 32" sets? Maybe closer? What's the point of getting more pixels if you can't even see them? I mean yeah that would be nice if you had like a 100" tv and sat 2 or 3 feet away from it, but much further and you wouldn't see much of a difference.
