Searching for a good real time strategy game

Hi,

I am searching for a good RTS game. Remember the days when I was a child, playing battle for middleearth for hours.

Maybe anyone knows a similary game?

I liked the concept where you have to controll different spots over the map to increase the economy. Also like heroes in strategy game. A multiplayer would be nice, but is not necessary.

Dawn of War are great games and Starcraft 2 was great as well.

SC2 Heart of the Swarm

Give Supreme Commander a go,it´s a great game and probably my favourite RTS of the last few years.

The original mind you,the sequel is ok but not anywhere near as good.

Yeah, go for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Amazing game. Tons of units, huge maps and economy is everything.

Dawn of War

Red Alert 2 (3 is newer but i still prefer 2)

Settlers 2 and World in Conflict are good as well

I agree with all of the above. Also some more of the classics, if you're not bothered about graphics. Like Age of Empires 2, Total Annihilation, Command & Conquer 1 - 3. I'm really surprised that no one has recommended Company of Hero's yet. I'd like to see about doing a Supreme Commander games night with the players network, if anyone would be interested in that?

just a heads up on dawn of war. dawn of war 1 and 2 play very differently. both great games but, going by the OP, Dawn of war 1 and its expansions would be more suited.

just in case you see them both and think "sure i may as well go for DOW 2".

warcraft 3 forzen throne is still the pinnacle of RTS for me

Supreme Commander. i like big maps and i can not lie.

True it was very good.

Look into rise of nations an old rts but still alot of fun.

Command and Conquer: Generals

Command&Conquer: 3.

Dawn Of War(the first one).

Red Alert2 and the Yuri's Revenge Expansion pack.

Age Of Mythology.

Age of Empires 2.

Starcraft 2

Warcraft 3.

Rise of Nations.

Battle Realms.

Then there are the others like Civ4 and Total War series.

Just more proof that newer isn't always better.

RA3 is a horrible game.

Company of Heroes. I haven't played the 2nd one yet and I haven't heard good things about it.
