Two highly anticipated titles from SEGA, Aliens vs. Predator and Napoleon: Total War will ship with Steamworks support at retail and online, including among other features, Achievements, Matchmaking, Leaderboards, Stats, and Cloud. Aliens vs. Predator will ship on Steam and at retail in mid-February. Napoleon: Total War will ship on Steam and at retail in late February.

AVP is another game that tied to Steam. :(

I don't see why you think Steam is bad enough for you to not want to buy it. Every PC gamer should have Steam..

I agree that it's better than GFWL but I want to play Steam-free game when I buy a retail game.

STEAM is no where near bad enough to avoid a purchase. In fact it is quite the opposite.

steam is not a bad choice vs securom or gfwl, but I hate how steam is getting more and more a monopoly on the digital service. Lack of competition is why peoples are paying 50$ a year for xbox live and 3$ for a wallpaper... I hope more game publisher will use Stardock protection or gamersgate.

I like steam for valve games but I hate that it kills 2nd hand sales, same with GFWL. I wanted to sell B:AA after finishing it but its tied to my personal gfwl account. Same thing with FEAR 2, tied to steam account, cant be resold.

Why would you re-sell your games, I always buy games with the intention of keeping them forever, if I'm gonna sell them, why would I buy them in the first place? In any case, I don't mind this, I have a Steam account so all is good! =D

People who dislike it are ignorant.

I've used steam for years and love it.

I really like the idea of being able to buy a game retail, and have it still be tied to my steam account.

Yeah, I agree, when I buy a retail game I by far and away prefer it to be service/server independent --- and with disc-check only DRM.

However, this doesn't come close to being a deal-breaker, Steam's a good service and I have quite a few games tied to Steam. Given the option though, retail is still king.

while some people think it is bad that Steam is monopolizing the digital market, I actually feel good about it. I personally trust Valve. they are one of few developer/publisher who listen and care about fans.

If Microsoft or EA owned Steam, then yes, we are doomed. the moment they take 90% of the market, they will charge ridiculous amount of fees for ridiculous stuffs.

I have only 2 games in Steam, HL-W and DoW 2, and both provided me annoying experiences DUE Steam. I'm not interested in supporting this platform; I use FRAPS to take screenshots and vids, Xfire to track my stats, friends and servers + VoiP, Gamershell to download patches and don't need any of the Steam services, even finding the achievements system a very puerile feature more related to consoles than to PC games.

Those are my reasons to dislike Steam, even if I understand that Steam is nice to some people, a fact that I respect.

So does this mean that you'd be able to redownload it through Steam without the disc or is it just tied to the steamworks stat tracking and multiplayer?

Means you can download it through Steam. Basically, once you purchase the game you never need the disc again.

Games to have it be optional (discounting Valve games) rather than making it mandatory to play... Not everyone likes Steam, not everyone wants every game they own tied to Steam (something happens to your Steam account to get it 'locked/banned' and you lose access to the games for good). Steam is a good service, yes (I use it a bit), but it should never, never be absolutely required for third party games. You don't have to agree with me - its my opinion, if ya don't like my opinion... well too bad.

I don't really get the people who refuse to buy games if they have Steam tied to it. Get used to it. Companies are increasingly releasing fewer and fewer games with zero DRM. Steam is about as non-invasive DRM as you could want, not counting Impulse.

I think more games should use STEAM. With the fact of not having to use a disk and keeping our games organized. I think STEAM has its problems, but is a blessing.

Requiring steam blows, and all these people who are fine with this but hate GFWL need to be slapped, as this is waaaaay worse, its one of the worst forms of DRM you can be forces to use.

Steam is fine if you CHOOSE to use it. being force to use it is the worst thing they can do, at least GFWL isnt DRM, and i can still lend my GFWL games out, or sell them.
