I got a spare $200 to burn and I thought about upgrading my PC from a (Geforce 9800 GTX) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130376 to a (GeForce GTX 260) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433 The only upgrade I see worth buying for is the additional processor cores, but I don't know much so that's why I'm here. (Also, sorry for not hyperlinking... Gamespot's not happy with my html formatting.)

I upgrade every like 4-5 years (minus vid card) so I can't see that as a good thing to do....

Especially for not that much of an upgrade increase ( a lot of people would say OMG THATS SO MUCH BETTER! but no, it's really not. )

At least wait until the new cards come out.

Not really any point, you'll see an improvement but it's not worth spending your cash on it now. If you want to upgrade something have a look at your sound setup as alot of people forget it, you can also get some better quality fans and accesories (rubber gaskets ect)

Yes, i thought of it too as a 9800gtx+ owner, only a 275 or 85 is kinda worth it.......even then it's a lot of cash, so i say wait.

Does adding a dedicated sound card really provide a noticeable boost? I'm thinking about it myself since I'm using a recently-bought 1080p monitor and might need some oomph to play at those high resolutions (already have a C2Q9450 and good ventilation--might boost the CPU cooler at the same time if I up my video card).

There a little FPS increase but sound quality is the real reason to get one.

Then I'll hold off, since the quality seems fine to me. I think I'll get a new video card, but not yet. Maybe a little down the road, after more cards come out (should be some DX11 cards coming out soon) and better deals can be had.
